Video output via SDI on AJA Io4K only showing black

I'm currently testing Switch 4.1.1 on a late 2013 Mac Pro running 10.11.6.  It's the Pro features that I would really need for running off shows real time to our server with 608 and 708 captions, plus 4 channels of audio (1 stereo and 2 mono tracks).

I have "enable external preview" on and Switch says it sees the Io4K.  The AJA control panel says it is in use by Switch and the audio seems to be coming through fine.  The video, however, is not coming through and is just black.  I realize the trial version says it will be periodically black but this is nothing but black.

I am testing with Apple ProRes422 files but have also tried with different file formats (mpegs make the preview screen all pink instead of black).  Any thoughts as to what the problem may be?  The system requirements on the downloaded form says it should work with El Cap but the web site says Sierra so is that the problem?  Seems like everything else is working except the SDI video output.

  • Switch 4.1.1 Tech Specs state 10.12 or 10.13 is required so that may be the issue.
Switch 4.1.1 release notes also state 10.12 or higher under System Requirements.
The User Guide is 4.1 and hasn't been updated. Sorry about that.

You may also need to update your AJA drivers as well.

  • Ok, thanks.  We are running the latest AJA drivers and will be updating to Sierra in the near future so I will test again at that point.

It's always best to include version numbers because people sometimes miss recent updates. AJA had an update on January 24th. 14.0.1
