Screenflow Freezes/hangs while trying to export-everytime. Following with the whole laptop getting hanged. Nothing works then...

I had purchased Screenflow in 2019 and had recorded many videos with its help in 2020.

However since I started to use it again in the last 15 days, after recording when I try to export the video, Screenflow just freezes and then the whole laptop gets freezes. and then that’s it. That's the end of everything. After that, there is only one option for me to use my laptop. That is to use the power key to shut down and then restart.

    Version 8.2.4

The last version of ScreenFlow in that series was 8.2.6 which can be found at this link under Previous Versions near the top.
Keep in mind that version is no longer supported. All issue fixes are in more recent versions. The current version of ScreenFlow is 10.0.3 which runs on Catalina and Big Sur. Both of which your computer can be updated to.

Given your issue is recent and you have done no updates to the OS or ScreenFlow, perhaps you need to make sure you have at least 20% free hard drive space as ScreenFlow and the OS use the free space for temp files. It seems you may have enough free space but please confirm the size of the internal drive.

Also if you are running other programs it's possible you may be running out of RAM. When editing with ScreenFlow, make sure there are no other programs running. It's also possible you may have imported a file that is difficult to play or may be incompatible. Please list any imported file and how they were created. You may want to test by deleting such file to determine if it's the cause of the issue.

    First update to 8.2.6 though.

    • CraigS Updating to 8.2.6 has not worked. IT has been raining here since last 14 days and i recently was made aware by couple of friends about there desktop getting corrupted. Could it be due to excess moisture in the environment leading to some issue with the hardware ?

You could try reinstalling the OS which can repair any corrupt aspects of the OS. Don't forget to backup the drive first. Mac laptops have been known to overheat so heat and humidity can be a factor. Overheating is more likely to occur when exporting.  If the laptop has a fan you'd hearing it straining when trying to export.
