Feature Request: Record only from specified Mission Control desktop

When I use ScreenFlow to record a webinar, I'd like to be able to do other work while the webinar is recording, but have ScreenFlow record only the webinar.  Mac's Mission Control allows you to create multiple virtual desktops.  You can display the webinar on one desktop and do other work on other desktops.  But currently, if you start a ScreenFlow recording of the webinar, when you switch to other desktops, ScreenFlow records your switching to the other desktops and what you see there.  i.e. the webinar continues, but ScreenFlow is no longer recording it.  If you want a complete recording of the webinar, this means your computer is tied up for the duration of the webinar.

I have requested the ability to specify that ScreenFlow record only from a specified Mission Control desktop.  That would allow me to start recording a webinar on a specified desktop.  Then I could switch to other desktops to continue my work, without affecting the recording of the webinar.

Gene Hoffman For clarification, if you target a Desktop you would like it to stick with the Desktop even if you move it off-screen?

  • CraigS  Correct.  Stick with the Desktop, even if I move it off-screen.

Since the GPU isn't "presenting it" (it's off-screen) I'm not sure if there's even a presentation for ScreenFlow to capture at that point (even if the content is changing).

    • CraigS , Bummer!  I was hoping that since the webinar continues to stream (I can still hear the audio, even when I switch to another desktop) that ScreenFlow would be able to also continue capturing the video, even when it isn't being displayed.

Gene Hoffman We'll investigate to see if a solution is possible (find a way to have GPU generate image).
