Communicating discreetly within Rendezvous ...

Hi there

Is there anyway to communicate with guests in Rendezvous while one guest is “live”

If we run a live stream for a few hours and guests “don’t have time” to do a technical check or are present later in the broadcast, we’re investigating is there a way to check if their audio (mic etc etc) is present without interrupting the guest who is “live” on air!

Has anyone a workaround ?

Also, am I correct in saying that if I mute everybody’s mic in rendezvous (as host), the guests can still talk with each other in the rendezvous platform ? If I mute them all, for example, then only I can’t hear them ?

thanks in advance for the help

CMI Technik You'd be able to talk them through setup but, true, that doesn't help with actually testing the sound itself.

Currently, there's no easy way to set up separate audio communication so we'd need to investigate that as a feature request  WIRE-18835

  • I'm looking to do the same thing.  If one guest is already live how can we verify the audio of the new guest without the current guest/s hearing it?  It would be nice to send and receive separate audio to the Rendezvous guest from a control room.

Will Johnson Agreed and I created the feature request for that.

  • There are also two related features requests you may want to vote for.
    This is one
    Note:
Right now, when a presenter goes to screen, there is no way for me to take them out of my headset so I can talk to the other presenters, give them stand-by's, and instruct them on the stupid mutes they have to do because we can't control their mutes. The fact that I can mute an individual rendezvous guest on my panel without muting them to the entire system renders the whole thing useless to my workflow

    And this one as well
    Note:
Also, it seems that if I add another Rendezvous guest while one is presenting, the audio from that new guest defaults as "on" to the audio output off the person presenting. Can you imagine presenting to a large audience when suddenly someone starts yelling "hello, can you hear me" in your ear.
