Capturing Applications

DP is working and I have an image in Wirecast Pro. However, when I select Window as my screen choice, no Applications (other than Desktop Presenter) appear as options to capture. Specifically, ProPresenter is the App that I want to capture.

Thanks in advance

It looks like you have the OS versions reversed.
Catalina requires permission for Screen Capture (Screen Recording) from third party programs in System Preferences Security & Privacy.

If you're running Wirecast on Catalina you should update to 13.1 (requires Mojave and up).

  • Hi Chris. Thanks for the reply. I am not sure I understand your reply though, especially about the 'reversed' OS.

The arrangement that I listed is accurate. Are you saying that I can give permission to Desktop Presenter in Catalina OS - in Security/Privacy settings?

Yes, Cataline requires Screen Recording permission for Desktop Presenter.

Malcolm Hall There's a different issue on Windows. We're working on improving some things about capture on Windows but it seems some Microsoft applications may not allow it unless you do a Monitor capture.

Michael Anderson Clarke Have you updated to Wirecast 15.1?
Are you on Intel or Apple Silicon?
Keep in mind no one has posted in this thread for 2 years and Apple Silicon did not exist at that time.

Since RDP is for Remote use what computer are you running it on?
There may be a network issue.

If you are running on the same computer as Wirecast please test in 15.1 and use Screen Capture.

  • Thank you for your urgent response.

I am running the RDP on the following computer.

    Model Name: MacBook Air

      Model Identifier: MacBookAir7,2

Processor Name: Dual-Core Intel Core i5

      Processor Speed: 1.6 GHz

      Number of Processors: 1

I am running Wirecast 15.1 on the new M1 iMac.  I was having a similar problem with the iMac but I fiddled with it and it started to work ie it showed the applications but using the 2.08 version RDP  it does not show the applications.

Not sure what you mean by test in 15.1 however in any event I am running on 2 separate machines

Michael Anderson Clarke Don't use RDP on the Wirecast computer. Please use Screen Capture built into Wirecast.

  • Actually I've given up and instead I'm using the NDI system.  Working with simplicity

Michael Anderson Clarke Personally I think NDI Screen Capture is the better way to go as Remote Desktop Presenter hasn't been updated in a few years and may have issues on Apple Silicon Macs.
