Screenflow Scc. file corrupted again
3 years since I posted about my corrupted file and yet again here I am with another corrupted file, Screen flow crashed and my work is now corrupted.
After 3 years I am wondering if there is any programs which will sort this problem out I.E uncorrupt my file & make it work with screenflow.
if Not, Is there an alternative program to screenflow which saves your files while recording.
Cheers

Screen flow crashed and my work is now corrupted. Please describe the circumstances of the crash in detail including ScreenFlow and OS versions and hardware used. We'd like to avoid the crashes. ScreenFlow records using a proprietary system which includes metadata from the OS and GPU so only ScreenFlow can determine if the file can be recovered.
Our Telestream Wirecast program records in standard H.264 .mp4 or a couple of common MOV codecs in which may recover all but the last 20 seconds. This does not recording any screen metadata and does not edit (you can edit the files in ScreenFlow though). -
Hello,
MacOS Catalina
Version 10.15.7
retina 13 early 2013
up to date screenflow software
Just recording and 40 mins into my work and it crashed, I.E camera frozen and screenflow unresponsive.
Checked wirecast but I need a program which records webcam and my desktop for my work.
Would be nice if you had a pick of record formats on screenflow i.e Mp4, Even if it offed less editing, so long as I get to keep my work.
Is there no way to get my file back?,
one time 3 years ago I had a corrupted file and I just kept opening it on scren flow and it worked. But no luck on this file so far..

up to date screenflow software9.0.5 or 9.0.6? It may make a difference. The latter doesn't show up as an update (yet) but it's the current version.

How much free drive space? How much RAM?
Given it happened 40 minutes in that may indicate something going on in the computer as ScreenFlow is performing an ongoing function (recording) and not an immediate action.

Is there no way to get my file back?,You can import the .scc file from the temp location. It's not clear what you tried.

I'm left with a large .scc file that it says is corrupted. I couldn't get the recording to stop. i would choose "stop recording" over and over from the pulldown menu, but it wouldn't stop. so I force quit Screenflow, hoping it would do that thing where it asks if you want to recover a recording when you first open Screenflow, but it didnt'. I tried to open the .scc file with Screenflow, and it gives me an error message. 50 minutes gone.

You guys are so incredibly unhelpful and practically hostile to users who've had this issue. It's astounding. When a user is teaching a class, recording a training session, etc., they may not have the attention to give to every detail of Screenflow barfing and leaving them with nothing but a giant .scc file which is, apparently, a completely worthless piece of crap. How about you just fix the software or implement some kind of recovery tool and stop putting the onus on your users to figure out what went wrong? Man, just awful customer care.

Hi Suzanne, I'm very sorry to hear about your frustration with ScreenFlow - I understand how aggravating data loss can be.
We actually have implemented a manual recovery tool for corrupted .scc files in ScreenFlow 10. If you hold the Shift key and open the Help menu in the top menu bar, there is an option to 'Recover Screen Recording File'. This will attempt to recover the selected .scc file on disk.
Please try this with version 10 and report back, thank you.

Spent $49, upgraded to v.10. Activated the recovery tool, Screenflow told me it had successfully recovered my 1.42GB recording, spitting out a 49KB file empty file. Also, in retrospect, there is no way that I ran out of hard disk space (4TB drive not even close to full). I must have seen the "out of memory" message and accidentally conflated to space v. RAM. My machine has 16GB of RAM, so if SF is managing memory the way it should, really seems that error shouldn't happen in the first place, but meantime—the recovery tool is not accomplishing anything.
