Screenflow 9 EpocCam worked and after buying it not...

Hi,

I tested ScreenFlow with my setup (demo version).

then I bought it in the AppStore.

after that my Epoccam is not showing up anymore...

(greyed out) but it finds the audio channel...?

checked it in QuickTime and obs both finding the camera perfectly.

Re-installed ScreenFlow.

still, grey record from video

any idea?

Thank you!!

Rod

If you're on Catalina you may have to give ScreenFlow access to camera in Security and Privacy.

Rodrigo Kirchner Catalina requires it for nearly every third party app it seems.
Make sure you install Epoccam Viewer and Driver (although that may already be there if it's working in other apps.

  • CraigS there is a bug with the AppStore version - it seems not to work if you had the demo version before - even if you completely uninstall it etc have a look at the video.

Rodrigo Kirchner I wonder if the Mac App Store required "sandboxing" prevents its use. Fill out the form and note the difference between our web trial version and the Mac App Store version. We'll send you a case number. Post that here and I'll track the issue for you.

  • CraigS hey Craig, thanks for your follow-up, I opened already a case before it has the number Case #00753891 I got an email from Giovanni and answered him with my new findings (Web vs Appstore)

Hope we can figure that out soon, meanwhile, I'm using the web demo to record and finish the project in the AppStore version is an easy workaround for now :)

    Thanks

  • CraigS The AppStore version seems to be really buggy - also the external audio filters are not working only name shows up but you cant use them. The version claims that it can't record keystrokes anymore but f you take the screenflowhelper from the content folder and add it to accessibility - as you do with the website version it works fine. Also, black magic studio driver inputs (professional cameras via hdmi input) make even the website version crash (screenrecoder input failure) even it shows the preview in the recording setup. And after a long time editing, this happens.... if u project und do and save its destroys the footage (can't be found afterward)

Rodrigo Kirchner In each case have you compared to the AppStore version to the trial of the WebStore version. Keep in mind the AppStore version has to comply with Apple's "sandboxing" which may impact the use of third party things.

ScreenFlow is only tested compatible with certain UVC compliant (HDMI/SDI to USB3) input devices and they are driverless.

So it's hard for me to evaluate any of this without details as we can't troubleshoot general comments.

That error seems to be related to the number of undos and that may be impacted by memory in which they are stored so I can't really evaluate that either without details.

This thread is about the EpocCam so if you're issues aren't specific to that then support may not accurately follow this thread or your issues. Please start another thread on your issues if not related to EpocCam. You can point to this thread if all your issues are webstore vs appstore but that would be incorrect regarding Blackmagic drivers since neither supports it.

  • Hi, since this threat was opened there was no update to the app store version so I guess nothing has been fixed. So is there a way to exchange the app store version to a ”regular” version?

Rodrigo Kirchner Both web and app store versions are at 9.0.4. We haven't been able to fix the EpocCam compatibility though. Given the Mac App Store, sandboxing may be the issue and we can't work around that beyond getting the regular version.

Contact Desktop Sales and include a screenshot of your proof of purchase from the Mac App Store and we can crossgrade it for you.

    • CraigS What's the bottom line about Screenflow 9 and/or Screenflow 10 working with EpocCamm.  The goal is to use iphone as an additional camera (to record two camera views).  Seems like EpocCamm is the most discussed way of doing that.

I was a bit thrown off by your later comment about "Screenflow only made to work together with certain [driverless] input devices.  The doesn't describe EpocCamm as far as I can tell as there is a required driver software.

      Please advise.

Reincubate Camo is another good choice.
ScreenFlow 10 will work with drivers. Please check in ScreenFlow 10.0.2
First, make sure you're EpocCam driver is current.

Also, test EpocCam in Skype and Zoom first to make sure it's working.
Personally, I'm finding Camo a reliable option though in our testing so far.

I’m having the same problem with Screenflow 10.0.3 on an MBA M1. EpocCam shows up and is selected for video, but Screenflow doesn’t record video at all. Latest version of the driver as I just downloaded it.

George Hess for various reasons we don't officially support EpocCam
We're having much better compatibility with Reincubate Camo.

I'll ask developers about compatibility work though.

      George Hess

Tested on both M1 11.6 Mac and Intel 10.15.7 Mac
It works on Intel 10.15.7 Mac
so the compatibility issue is specific to M1.
      Notifying the developers.

  • Same problem. Using Screenflow 10 in an M1 Macbook Air. Epoccam showing as source during configuration. But does not show up after recording.

I already paid for the Epoccam Pro version. Camo works (but we need a subscription for the pro features).

Rodney Garcia Sorry but EpocCam presents issues that other drivers don't. Camo had issues as well but Reincubate fixed them. We do wish Elegato would do likewise with EpocCam. We're still looking at this but keep in mind we want to avoid fixes than will then impact compatibility with other drivers which do have more compatible coding.
