Clip Duplication and Blending options
Hi everyone.
I'm a pretty new Screenflow user. It's a very user-friendly yet powerful video editing software and I'm very happy about it..
Just wanted to leave some feedback about some missing features (or might I have missed them? )
1. Duplicating clips by drag n drop + alt ( I'm a mac user), instead of copy pasting
2. Blending options when two or more clips (or images) overlay (like in photoshop: multiply , darken, screen etc..)
Thanx for your time!
Dan

Interesting idea. Please do fill out the form (each request separate submission) and make the feature requests with your included explanation.
ScreenFlow Feature Request Form -

How many votes are needed for a feature to be considered? They're almost all considered. It's not a vote threshold but a comparative result. Like is it a top 5 or 10 vote-getter for example? How many votes compared to other requests?
This has 3 votes in 3 years and is not near the top. We can determine why the interest is only at this level, but this is the current level of interest. I've noted that the first request for this was nearly 10 years ago, but the requests are maybe once every two or three years or so. It's been very consistent at that level.

BLENDING MODES are really like one of "the" most basic features any editing software should have... we're on Screenflow 10 now... and Still No Blending Modes! WHY?
I don't want to switch to Camtasia, although it is full of features... it was always full of bugs, but the bugs are being sorted out, yet no new worthwhile features are added to ScreenFlow.
Heck Even OBS has Blending modes...
Come on, in terms of programming, it's like a day's worth of work, just a simple right-click on the timeline / Blending Mode / Chose the BlendMode (just please add "OVERLAY" as an option)
This will bring so much more use, think of various lens flares, light leaks, grain, color variations etc. One small adjustment opens a world of possibilities! because right now we just have "Green Screen" and that's it!
And I know what CraigS is going to say... [Feature Requests / Vote] yade yadee... but come on, this should have been included from the start, it's not like I'm asking some obscure feature to be implemented, this is as basic as it can get.
ALL of Adobe software from Photoshop to Premier and AfterEffects, Mac's Final Cut and Motion, DaVinci, Filmora, PowerDirector... maybe it would be just best if you name just ONE video editing suite which does not include Blending Modes as a feature... and then we can vote, but until then I consider this a Flaw of ScreenFlow and Lack of necessities, and not an optional feature...
An I know "Voting" is your preferred method of choosing what get's included, but surely there is also common sense... and how many of ScreenFlow users actually get to these forums, and how many of them scroll through the list of requests, and out of that 1% how many of them actually vote? this is not a very active community for "change".
So please, I beg you, at least propose it to your team, perhaps this basic feature got overlooked, and perhaps you'd agree that this building block can greatly expand your possibilities to include other features too. -
Just to emphasize that the voting system is a very inaccurate way of determining what ScreenFlow users actually want... after years of complaining about this lacking feature, I just now saw the "Vote" button, so now... now there are 4 votes... YAY!
if (for example) a pop-up opened the first time you start ScreenFlow, and gave you an option of selecting up to 10 features you'd like to see in the new version, I bet you'll see that feature request voting, is just inaccurate, because there is really a small community of people here which does not reflect the userbase of ScreenFlow.
THE MOST VOTES a feature request got was 45... HEY! WOW
No offense, but I get more likes per photo on my dog's Instagram account...
I swear if this feature is not added in the next release, I'll just get 41 people to sign up and vote for this feature... or go to https://telestreamforum.forumbee.com/members and DM all the users asking if Blending Modes is a feature they want and if so, vote for it.... Just to prove a point -

In fact that would very much prove the point. We measure motivation. If you are motivated and find others are motivated that would show interest. That some features garner tens of votes over a given time and others only a hand full over years is certainly a comparative measure. -
Very interesting!
For the Glory of my People... There shall Be Blending Modes!
I proclaim it with all my might!
+1I am but a grain of sand, in the sea of the many thousands who are the users of this forum, yet I foresee the day that this post reaches the mystical number of "FOURTY SIX" the number which will change the history of ScreenFlow as we know it.
Oh, how we long for such a great number never before seen by this forum, in all its might and glory...
That shall indeed be the day when the years of "no blend mode oppression" shall stop to exist and there shall be rejoicing and laughter for many peoples of many nations! -
You want to say we can do this..... ALL OF THIS? (in the video)
This one feature is probably the most important feature in the whole of ScreenFlow.
You want to say, that by adding this BLEND MODE feature, ScreenFlow users will have the option to download third-party Overlay footage and improve their videos...
wow... I mean MEOW! AMAZING!!!!
This must be some kind of revolution in technology, that happened recently for this not to be included earlier.
Meow meow meow! -
It is a criminal offense to not include Blending modes, Quite illegal!
If this was a court case, It would not even need a hearing!
Any objections by ScreenFlow would be over-ruled by A. common sense and B. Customer needs
I can't imagine how Craig thinks that these forums in any way, even in the slightest reflect what users of ScreenFlow want.
Most users just expect the newest features to be implemented automatically, without requesting them, they are the status quo, they are the majority of the users, and what they want is largely UNKNOWN...
For this example let's say 99% of ScreenFlow users have never visited this forum, (that's a realistic estimate).
out of 99% let's say 90% want Blend Modes.
HOW WOULD WE KNOW?????
There is no way!
ScreenFlow is simply inadequate at determining the needs of users...
If they think this forum is an answer they are seriously mistaken.
The only way, is for the 1% of highly determined tech-savvy non-standard consumers who have a specific question, to finally, end up joining this forum... out of that 1% how many actually go to the request features and read all of them, and then vote... yeah, your current system is that 0.01% of the users request and vote for features while 99.99% of the users just don't bother fighting for what they want, because let's face it, ScreenFlow is a tool designed to make your life simple, and registering on a forum and requesting features and voting, is not a part of that subscription.
THATS why you have 45 votes as the highest number... out of thousands of users you have 45 VOTES as the highest vote, and you don't find that weird?
NOT realistic and NOT reflective in ANY sort of way of what the ACTUAL users of ScreenFlow TRULY want... this is just a silly game... if you chose to continue playing this game, and not invest in better Research and not implement actual meaningful change, other software will just take the lead...
Those are just my 2 cents.
Take it or leave it, but NickAlikA is right,
I've used ScreenFlow only occasionally, but even I consider this as "basic" functionality. -

Developers always prioritize developments as working on one thing means not allocating time to something else. They can make decisions on their own but knowing user interest is the best way to advise developers on priority. Sorry that you disagree but it's the user base that requested an easy way to have input without having to send in feature request forms. -
