Chris Meyer When you say "most recent version" do you mean this was working in 6.1 but broke in 6.2? List the steps you took to mute the whole track (even if you think it's obvious). Are you clicking off the left speaker? When in you look at the Audio Inspector (Action) panel what do you see at that point?

CraigS The short version is: The left-hand Audio Mute buttons do not work for the 5th track and below.
The long version (and I will file a bug report on this):
Record audio with a 4-channel interface, with sound on all 4 channels.
Extract all tracks.
Mute all the tracks using the left-hand master Audio Mute buttons (not per-segment mute). All of the waveforms gray out as if they are muted.
Play, and you still hear audio! Turns out, it's from the 4th extracted audio track, which is now the 5th track from the top in the timeline.
Drag any other audio segment into this horizontal track, and it will start playing - so it's a horizontal track thing; not a capture segment thing.
Since I did not have a 4-channel audio interface when I also had v6.1, I don't know if the bug existed back then. I had certainly used the muting before, but maybe not as specific as on horizontal track or below. -
The 828 is playing system audio.
Please do clarify, are you sending the computer's audio (system audio) back into the 828? You may want to explain your routing.
I can hear it,
How are you monitoring? This is probably independent of ScreenFlow, my guess.
I can see it show up in the audio area,
I can see the channels in your screenshot but I'm not seeing any meter levels which means ScreenFlow is not seeing any audio.
As a test I'd suggest sending an external audio source in to the 828mk2 and monitoring through computer headphone jack only. Make sure you see meter movement in the window you've posted and then record. Please make sure you've updated to ScreenFlow 6.2.1 (just released). -
I'm glad the idea of loopback is coming up again. I've already reported elsewhere that I use it in my RME FireFace UFX. I think users of multi-channel pro gear should know about it because it allows you to do all of your monitoring via the audio interface, as one would expect in a pro environment, without having to connect anything to a computer headphones jack. In the case of RME the loopback feature is built into the digital mixer that is part of the interface. Not sure if other companies have it integrated. Some may require external wiring. In my case, what happens with system audio is this: I set up my computer audio to send output to the RME interface. In the interface, the audio is routed to a physical output, which is then looped-back to an input and appears to SF as source audio from the interface. SF is configured receive audio from my interface. This is useful. I'm not denying the flow that uses the computer headphone jack for monitoring. Just describing another possible way to work.

I use both the Apollo twin and USBPre2 as my audio interfaces. Apollo twin shows up with all channels available. Pre2 only has 2 channels so that's all that shows up.
In my ScreenFlow Essential Training on Lynda.com I show how the channels showing up with Apollo twin and then go into how to use Apple's Audio MIDI Interface tools to create an Aggregate Virtual Interface that works beautifully in ScreenFlow. With an aggregate virtual interface you can have multiple interfaces and USB microphones all show up in SF and it we capture each track separately.
thanks for the thread, hope this helps!

I'm using a Shure Mvi XLR to USB interface. Up until recently I had no problems, but as I explained in this post:
https://telestreamforum.forumbee.com/t/36zb15/audio-clicks-when-recording-ipad
I'm getting audio clicks in my recordings now. Might not be the interface, it happens specifically when recording video from an iPad.

I can report that the Clarett 8Pre is working. It's slightly different however in configuration than the USB Samson mic I was using. Combined with a Shure SM7B I have to max the gain on the Clarett. And then going into Screenflow the signal is quite low i.e. the waveform that displays is only very slight. Mic sensitivity? So what seems to work is to 'smooth volume level' which brings back a usable waveform without introducing any noise that I can hear. Then I pull back the overall volume to about 75% just so everything is not so punchy if listeners have their volume maxed. Very clean sounding. I do think it's bizarre to have the gain turned all the way up and I'd prefer not to have to 'smooth volume levels.' It would be nice to have a stronger signal recorded. I tested just a Quicktime audio recording as well, and the signal, to me, seems low as well. Definitely needs to be boosted. I wonder why that is. It's obviously to do with the Clarett 8Pre and/or the mic.

K Roy Thanks for that report. Please do report the specifics regarding the workaround needed for good audio levels. Our developers are working on improving audio and your detailed experience would be valuable.

I can also report that the Focusrite Scarlett Solo works well, but there are a few hoops that you have to jump through, unless there is a configuration setting that I'm missing. Again you have to max the gain to get a good signal, although it is minimal. Then you normalize i.e. "Smooth Volume Levels" in Screenflow which will bring the audio up to workable levels. You would think there there would be a lot of noise bringing a low signal higher, but this isn't the case that I can hear. It's pretty clean. You can hear the noise though if you really boost the volume, either with the Clarett or the Scarlett. The other thing that I have to do using the Solo is pan the 1st channel to the the middle, L and R. It comes in panned to the left. Not so with the Clarett. And if you really want, extract the audio and delete the empty channel. With both the Clarett and the Scarlett I can see it becoming a little bit of a hassle having to tinker some of the settings each time new audio is recorded into a screencast...a couple of clicks at least. The Clarett 8Pre has one less task (no panning required). If you are just doing screeencasts, go with the Focusrite Solo and a good mic. It's fine. The 8Pre is overkill unless you are recording 8 mics at a time.

CraigS Will do. Looking forward to improvements. Another note I will include that seems relevant. It looks like a ScreenFlow issue in this case. If I want to cut/paste multiple audio properties....specifically, the panning, volume, and "smooth volume levels" it doesn't happen. So as I mentioned about the Scarlett Solo, audio will come in to Screenflow panned to the left. If I want it centered, I can't change one clip and then copy/paste those settings across multiple clips. I can however select all the audio clips and change them all at once. Copy/paste would be faster for me though.
