I have been using a Sound Devices USBPre with ScreenFlow 5 and 6 with zero problems.

I have not tested with version 6, but with version 5 I could record 2 channels. The USBPre is only 2 inputs so that's the best it's going to do.

Apogee Ensemble Thunderbolt UPDATE:
So some more testing with the Apogee Ensemble Thunderbolt:
1. It will pass live audio coming into the inputs into Screenflow 6, but not mix the outputs from the DAW.
2. You can get Screenflow to route the audio out of the Apogee Ensemble by using 'Loopback' from Rogue Ameba, and letting it autoroute all the channels. This may be a solution for other users unable to use Thunderbolt or FireWire audio interfaces.
However using this method I could not get the interface to mix both the live inputs and the ones routed via Loopback. Will explore more by trying to create an aggregate device in Audio MIDI for both.

Apogee Ensemble Thunderbolt UPDATE 2:
After further testing I have now been able to get both audio from the outputs of my Apogee Ensemble routed to Screenflow 6 using Loopback (see post above) and also audio from the inputs, this should work on any incompatible audio interface with Screenflow.
- Download Loopback from Rogue Ameba and simply select your audio device and set it up as shown above.
- Go into Audio Midi on your Mac and create a new aggregate device; in this case I made it up of the Loopback device and an instance of the Apogee Ensemble.
- Give it a suitable name.
- Select this Aggregate device as your audio interface to record from in Screenflow 6.
Now you will get both the outputs from your device via Loopback and the inputs.
Hope this helps, I may post this as a separate article for those who may have incompatible audio devices.

I use Lexicon Alpha. From what I can remember it was pretty much as easy as "plug ' n ' play".

I'm just about to buy something new to record 4 channels. Looking at the new Focusrite Scarlett 6i6 – So Gene, your test would be very helpful.
I guess my Apogee Duet 2 will continue to work though for normal Stereo applications.

Knowing that the weekend is just gonna be crazy I just plugged in my 18i8 really quick and took a screen shot for you. Seems like all the channels show up in the recorder. And inside of SF you can see all the tracks for the clip so I think we are good :-)

so I've been using the Native Instruments Complete audio 6 . I recently upgraded to the Focusrite Clarett 8 Pre X. I used to just set the recording to "record computer audio" and had no issues.. well that setting no longer works even though Screenflow does see the Clarett and its inputs. However the multichannel recording does work. maybe I am just missing something as far as setting up the "record computer audio" aspect (and yes my mac is set to use the Clarett as its main output) ...

Ken Flux Pierce Record Computer Audio uses Apple's CoreMedia for system sound. Perhaps the Focusrite driver is impacting it.
Go to ScreenFlow Preferences, Advanced, Computer Audio and click on Uninstall Driver. Quit ScreenFlow and Reboot the Computer. Go to ScreenFlow Preferences, Advanced and Install Driver. Quit ScreenFlow, Reboot the Computer. Start ScreenFlow and just try to recording something like a YouTube video playing in a browser. Do not enable your audio interface in ScreenFlow. -
ok so I have tried this, I have also tried trashing my audio preferences etc from the library on mac, no such luck.

If you removed the interface and drivers and related software and reboot test to confirm Computer Audio works again. You may want to uninstall, reboot, reinstall ScreenFlow's audio driver in ScreenFlow's Preferences.

oddly enough in camtasia my lynx aurora + pcie works great but i prefer screenflow and it's showing up there but recording all glitched out, i've been using my zoomh6 to grab a lav mic and in my daw setting the output to built in speakers and monitoring off there, not perfect solution but good enough for teaching purposes.
i have the zoom routed into audio hijack for some processing and then output to a custom loopback and setting input of screenflow to that, works well but i do wish the lynx would work.

jake antelis It's hard to know about the issue with your Lynx from your description. Perhaps a sample rate issue? You could start another thread to trouble shoot.

thanks craig for the reply, i triple checked all the sample rate settings on computer+ interface and it's working great with everything but not screenflow.

Can you change the sample rate of the interface and see if that has impact?
