Save clips in global library

So I am wanting to make intros and outros of clips to put in many future videos. Please make clips able to be saved in the global library not just images and other media. If this can already be done please let me know because dragging a clip (common sense way) to the library doesn't work. Thanks!

  • Ok so I figured out that I can export a clips into an MP4 and then save it into the global library. But that means it is locked and I can't make changes to it if I want to add different video to the outtro. So I stand by my initial feature request to allowing a group of clips to be added to the global library that can be re-edited. I would have to keep track of the original screenflow file some where else and my organization skills are not that great. ;)

  • Being able to save a Document or maybe Nested Clips in the Global Library is a very interesting idea.

LP can document that for you.

  • I agree with the feature request. Actually, without it the global library feature does not bring anything that would not be already possible via workaround. I could simply store my shared media in a folder and after placing it to a project, I could manually replace the copy with a symlink/alias to the original.

  • HOnza Koudelka Thanks for that. The number of requests can impact development priority although some feature requests take longer to investigate depending on the technical challenges involved.

  • This is really needed...like Honza said, right now it's no different than a file folder and requires about the same amount of clicks because it's not organized. Please allow clips to be drag and dropped in the global library.

  • I've copied edited sequences between projects.  it just means I have to have two ScreenFlow projects open at the same time, which can be kinda taxing on my computer, but it did work.   That's an easy way to make a bunch of videos have the same intro/outro clip.

  • Charles Schiermeyer That would work. You can even use a project as a "template" project just for that purpose but we'll see if it's possible to make this easier.

  • You could do that with SF 6 as well. The point is to have it on the disk only once, and only use references in other projects. I wouldn't even mind having to put the whole ScreenFlow project file to the global library instead of just clips.

  • If you're still taking names, you can add mine — this would be spectacularly useful to me!

  • Rob Cottingham Sure thing. The developers do consider the number of people making a feature request.

  • Please add my name to the request for storing Nested Clips in the global media library. (I’m a new Screenflow user and after watching Lucas’ Screenflowlive session on Nested Clips I was actually surprised one couldn’t save Nested Clips into the GML.)

    Thanks!
