Feature Request - "Interface Theme" variation

In SF7, "interface theme" dark seems "too dark". How about a middle gradient or perhaps a slider to determine the degree of background darkness?

  • That's an interesting idea. Is there a UI issue with the current dark setting or just an aesthetic reason you'd like to change.

LP  can document that for you but knowing the reason why can help the developers as they make their decisions and priorities.

  • CraigS Possibly UI. Text on top of the dark background is somewhat grayish, making it hard to read. Would be better if more white.

Specific to the background: Adobe Bridge has sliders for the background as well as specific gray tone panels (see attached). I recall iPhoto having a choice of 3 background tones.

  • I always prefer a dark to black background when working with graphics. . . thanks for that!  One thing I find very counterproductive is that on a Mac (I don’t do MS)  all of the values are black text in a black box.  I have to click on any value box to see it. . . this is extremely annoying, since I want to see those values at a glance at times.  Is there a way to keep the black theme and add white text in the value boxes????

  • JB Harlin Once you select the clip the numbers are visible. If the clip isn't selected there's no numbers to see. It displays the Action as would be added to the clip (clip being selected).

  • Even with a clip selected, I see only black boxes. . . the only way to see the value is to click on the box, then the numbers show, but only for the box I click on. . .  I have to click on each box to reveal the numbers. . .

  • JB Harlin Even when I add an action, I still see only black boxes. . .  The only way I can see any of the values is by clicking on one of the boxes. . . if I click on the next box I only see that one. . . so I can only see one value at a time by clicking on each box one at a time????

  • JB Harlin Sure. Also do you have an apple officially compatible GPU, what model?

  • CraigS Yes. . . it is the stock Apple ATI Radeon HD 5870. Here is a screen recording of what I see. . . https://www.dropbox.com/sh/746rclucltn1of6/AAD5FR38ulPAsqvmBqvUKmKba?dl=0

  • JB Harlin I just loaded the demo of v7.1 on my MacBook Pro mid 2009 running OS X 10.11.6 and I see the exact same behavior. . .

  • This is how it works for me.
As soon as I select the timeline clip, the numbers appear.

  • JB Harlin All mid 2009 MBPs have NVIDIA GPUs. We've had some issues with NVIDIA GPUs.  Odd that you're having issues on both systems.

Please fill out the form and report this. Include the specs of both your systems since I suspect that's the factor. Link to your test as well.

Have you tried switching the Interface Theme in the General Preferences to 'Light' then back to 'Dark'?
