Select empty space
Ripple delete via mouse click is fast but it'd be faster if there was a keystroke to replace the mouse e.g., shift-s = select empty space in the timeline after a clip or, cmd+shift-s to select empty space before the clip. It helps reduce RSI so good for users in general.

How would you target a specific gap without the mouse?

In Pro Tools, arrow up to get to the end of the clip, shift+ tab to select to the next clip or alt+shift+tab to select backwards. No need for a mouse.
