Titles no longer working

I have just updated to ScreenFlow Version 10.0.4 (31881) and files that I have created with Titles included do NOT include said titles any more, video/playlist is blank.

Help as this was prime reason for my updating to V10 and now that feature has gone.

Sorry about this but what titles are you referring to and what did you update from.
Text and (animated) Ttiles Action work in ScreenFlow 10.0.4 so we'd need a bit more information when you say Titles are not included. Please give examples.

  • Take a look at https://vimeo.com/user14757785/review/667809951/b7e0172c39 which was created using version prior to 10.0.4 If I now open with updated software I cannot review or edit the Title Action, I can however export and all is OK, but that doesn't help if I cannot edit or update the file https://vimeo.com/user14757785/review/669859007/8ded4adf63 here is a short screen recording to show you what I now see... https://vimeo.com/user14757785/review/669861578/dda79438e7 note that whilst I was able to export snippet and all exports OK, I am not able to see or hear any of media in first 10 seconds (the Title Action part) https://vimeo.com/user14757785/review/669861578/dda79438e7

We have the exact same issue. Titles that were created in 10.03 are no longer editable in 10.4 and in fact the video playback just freezes when you reach that point in the video if you attempt to play in screenflow.

It looks like the actual titles themselves were changed. For example we use a title where the Headline and Subtitle are shown side by side (for the speaker names in 2 person interviews). In the old version the headline and subtitle could have different background colours. Now there is just one background colour. Similarly, the title where you can show some text on a thin moving line appears to have disappeared completely.

Seems to have been some sort of error here - you can't have minor versions not being backwards compatible!

I have managed to get back to 10.03 and i can compare the difference. basically in 10.03 there are 27 title formats. In 10.04 there are only the first 16. So if your titles are based on any of the last 12 formats in the list from 10.03 they don't work in 10.04. Must be some kind of oversight.

  • Thanks for feedback and support, this really needs to be fixed as I have effectively created a 'house style' for a series of screencasts and don't have time to convert to a different style when the client has approved and liked new style. Come on Telestream, GET THIS FIXED

Geoff Cross Agree. Our temporary solution is to downgrade to 10.03 for us and we're running with that until this gets fixed. I've raised a support request too as I don't know how oftel telestream people read these boards.

Geoff Cross We were lucky enough that we just bought an extra copy recently so had the original download file of 10.03. I'm sure if you google "screenflow 10.03 download" you'll find it somewhere. In our case it remembered our license key from the 10.04 installation so all worked well but you might need to manually put your license key in.

    • Ian Brodie I get ScreenFlow via the AppStore so don't have such files :-( really Telestream should fix issue, so fingers crossed that your support request gets them to sort this out.

Geoff Cross Argh - that's a pain then. Unless Screenflow themselves can send you v10.03 and a license code perhaps?

Can we have simple steps to reproduce so we can recreate the issue?
Developers want simple steps to follow.

    • Create a title in 10.0.3 so we can see what you've done.
    • Open in 10.0.4 and show that it doesn't work.

Include macOS version, Mac model and CPU type (M1, M1Max/Pro, Intel) and whether ScreenFlow is Mac App Store or our webstore version.

See if this link to 10.0.3 works if you need it (Ok if it runs in demo mode if you'd be using Mac App Store version).

    Geoff Cross  Ian Brodie
We have confirmed we're seeing variance on some systems in which 10.0.3 has 27 titles (but some may have 16) but 10.0.4 has 16.

    CraigS said:

This information could be helpful to us to see if there's a pattern. We are making this a high priority fix in investigation FLOW-11421

  • I have the same problem and where the previous title is located, the video stalls (but not the sound) until it has passed the Title section. This must be a really URGENT fix to reinclude all the previous 27 "Title styles" in the next bug fix release....

Besides that I am anoyed how "Text alignment" is implemented in SF. But that is another story.

Got this from support a couple of days ago:

“I have great news. This issue has been fixed by engineering, and will be made available in the next release (10.0.5). Which will be published shortly after some brief testing. Thank you for your patience.”

  • I recently upgraded to  Screenflow Version 10.0.4 (31881) and the text box does not work at all! This happened immediately after moving from proxy to full mode, but even applies to earlier simpler documents retrospectively. When I try to edit the default word TEXT I get yellow vertical and horizontal crosshair lines but no ability to edit at all. Urgent fix required please!  Thanks.

Richard Rawlings Without knowing more details, as per previous post this will be fixed in 10.0.5. About half the titles that worked in 10.0.3 aren't working in 10.0.4 for many users.

  • Just to add another gobbet related to this issue.

    System Version 10.0.4 (31881). iMac Monterey 12.2 iMac (Retina 5K, 27-inch, 2017).

    1. If I create a brand new project, then add a Title it works fine.

    2. If I have a nearly completed project, then add a title, the Title does not appear at all. It appears correct in the thumbnail of the track.

    3. If I copy the Title from (1) to (2) it no longer appears.

    4. If I try alternative Titles, they also don't appear in (2).

    5. VERY SMART DIAGNOSIS (If I may say so!) .... I copied the non-visible Title (2) in my project back to new project (1). There it was, appeared!!!!!

    6. I returned to my project (2). Selected the invisible Title. Checked the Video Position. BEHOLD, the Title was positioned off-screen, at -1,026, -1458.

    7. Setting the Title to Video position 0,0 brought the Title somewhere sensible, then I could  position as required.

    8. I recall adjusting the Canvas and Preset early in the project for (2), but just took the default options for (1).

    9. I tested adding another title to (2). Here's where it was hidden, at (x, y) (+142, -1233). Adjust position to 0,0 and the Title appears.

Peter Mellalieu Let's see how this all behaves when we release the fix. If you still see these issues at that point, do start a new thread. On the other hand if all the above is with a visible tile then please do start a new thread with a specific visible title as an example. As currently posted it may just be part of the "missing titles" issue.
