Wirecast forgetting NDI sources
About 2'ish hours into our session, Wirecast seems to forget the NDI source from our presentation computer. This has happened consistently and can only be avoided by restarting Wirecast right before our broadcast and hoping that it lasts long enough. I have not had the same issues with OBS and the NDI Studio Monitor has a stable stream from our other computer.

- Wirecast 14.3.4 (Standard)
- Custom built PC:
- CPU: 12th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-12700K 3.61 GHz
- RAM: 32GB
- Video: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1660 SUPER
- Input sources:
- NDI video source via gigbabit network interface (both ends) from iMac (Retina 5k 27 inch 2020) with macOS Big Sur 11.6.4) running ProPresenter v7.8 - 1080p60
- 2x BlackMagic Intensity Pro 4k PCI cards capturing HDMI inputs 1080i59.94 (driver version 12.1)
- One from the Mac as a backup
- Other from Blackmagic ATEM Television Studio Pro HD
- Wirecast preference setting - I don't know how to export this
- Wirecast Canvas size 720p
- Streaming and Recording encoder settings
- Streaming to Boxcast using standard encoder
- OS disk and recording disk are both SSDs. OS is 50% free, Recording disk is about 10% free.
- Wirecast Output Statistics
- CPU < 10% always
- FPS and connection status are as expected

Wirecast 15 (coming soon, days away) may fix this. It has newer NDI library. Also make sure you update your Newtek NDI Tools on both computers as some users report this impacts Wirecast.

Jens Jarke I started using NDI Discovery server about a year ago to deal with this issue. Seemed like Wirecast 14 would stop listening to NDI service announcements after a while.

That seems to be an application issue as I use NDI in other software for 6-8h streams with no issue at all.

Jens Jarke It may not be an issue in Wirecast 15.0 with updated NDI library. If it's still there I suspect we'll hear about it soon.

I updated both Wirecast and ProPresenter with NDI 5 compatibility yesterday. We'll see this weekend how it goes.

We upgraded to Wirecast 15, and I lost the NDI from the MAC running ProPresenter this morning. NDI monitor sees the NDI source just fine, but it is not in the Add Shot/Network list at all. This seems like a bug that still exists in version 15.

NWCC Tech Team did you update ProPresenter as well and reboot both machines?

John Sweeney I'll get the version of ProPresenter to be sure, but the fact that NDI monitor running on the same PC sees the feed, I'm pretty sure it is Wirecast that is not putting it on the list like it should.

NWCC Tech Team I had the same exact problem. Updating both seems to have resolved it.

John Sweeney We are using ProPresenter 7.9 and our Mac OS is Big Sur. The only clue is that the NDI feed was there for several hour just fine, and then the MAC was rebooted and it stopped working right then. I had already begun streaming though, so I did not want to restart WC or reboot the PC at that point. I really expected the NDI feed to show up on its own. What is really strange is that the NDI tools output (from the same PC) actually disappeared from WC's Network list.

Forgetting NDI sources is a different issue and is resolved when third-party programs are updated with the NDI fix. A few programs have had that issue. -

I've had many situations across multiple versions where Wirecast doesn't populate the same list of sources that NDI Video monitor does while running on the same machine. During my troubleshooting of the above mentioned issue with v15.0 I would occasionally lose NDI sources in Wirecast that were visible in Video Monitor, but I couldn't find a repeatable way to reproduce it.
I didn't intend to combine issues, hence my phrasing above. But there is a potential shared root cause for multiple issues here, if not a single issue that presents multiple ways. My intent was to let the author know of the other issue as well.

It's still broken. 😭 I lost my Mac's ProPresenter NDI source. I can see other sources in the list, but not the one I'm using.
I had the NDI Studio Monitor up on the same PC and it didn't miss a beat.
Is there any configuration parameter for Wirecast to query for input sources periodically? This is getting pretty frustrating.

John Sweeney Please make sure you've updated to Wirecast 15.0 and please make sure you are on ProPresenter 7.9 (confirm version numbers as we'd rather not assume).
You may want to test in a new document just in case something is being carried over from the problem document.
Please make sure the following ports are open
5353 (mDNS for NDI sources),
5960-59xx (NDI port range, 1 port per each NDI source in use),
