Wirecast 15.0.1 not working with AVerMedia HD Capture GC573

Hi, I'm using an AVerMedia HD Capture GC573 and just upgraded to Wirecast 15.0.1, the card no longer works, all I get is a green box.

This card has worked perfectly with all prior versions of Wirecast (I was running Wirecast 14 up until today, again, with no problems until I upgraded to 15.)

Attached picture shows the output of the card.... No settings change makes any difference.

Again, this card was working just fine (and still works in OBS and Wirecast 14)  until I upgraded to Wirecast 15 today....

thanks

It's not clear you've changed what needs to be changed. In your screenshot under "format" what are your options and what have you changed it to?
    What is your GPU model?

One issue we've seen is related to GPUs and Direct3D 12.
     Update your GPU driver.

In Wirecast Preferences > Advanced > Render Engine and try setting that to Direct 3D 11.

Please answer each comment specifically so that I know that you've done them.

  • Hi Craig, Changed it to D3D 11, still no dice.  The graphics driver is NVIDIA's latest studio driver, 512.59 , and the card is an RTX3080.

Obviously my capture card is old; it has been a while since I've purchased one, so let me ask your opinion -- are people moving more to NDI now to capture HDMI output from their cameras, ie, with devices like the birddog?  Has that proven to be a reliable solution? I don't mind investing in the new hardware as long as it works, and stays working! All the devices here run through a gigabit switch, so my assumption is it should work for a small number of cameras at least?

Adam Farkas In addition to the above, we'd want your system diagnostics.
Go to Wirecast > Help > Send Support Information and in the window hit Save Report and either attach the file here or send me a forum private message with a link to the file so I can download it.

     NDI use is increasing.

There's potential network issues. It depends on the number of sources and network capacity.

Others using the network are a factor. Full NDI uses more bandwidth than NDI HX.

It's not clear what Format options you have and what you tried. We need that information.
What Windows OS do you have (include build number)?

  • Hi Craig --

Windows 10 pro, whatever the latest stable build is (it is up-to-date)

In terms of settings, the camera itself is outputting 4:2:0 at 1920x10880 @ 60fps, as shown in the image.   This worked perfectly with the same settings in Wirecast 14 (literally the only thing that changed was upgrading to 15.)  I've also had success using 4:2:2 in wirecast 14, again this does not work at all in 15 -- no setting changes impact anything, even if I  change the frame rate back to 30 from the camera and adjust the setting in wirecast, I  get the same green square.

    thanks

Adam Farkas Thanks. Please provide the diagnostics document I mentioned. Developers must have this.

  • Craig - just wondering if the devs have had any time to look into this, or if the diagnostic data was helpful? I've purchased a birddog and I'm setting it up today, but would hate to have to toss the old capture card as it has worked so well until now.

Adam Farkas The issue is been spotted by a couple of users so we're testing to see what is causing it.

Adam Farkas Have you tested 15.0.3 as well?

Roger Din We should have a fix for this in the next update. I don't have a release date for that yet but the fix is coming.

Wirecast 15.0.3 released today fixes this issue. Test in a new document to be sure.

CraigS I tested wirecast 15.0.3. The standard format YCbCr 4:2:0 (NV12) did not work. I have a green screen. However the YCbCr 4:2:2 (YUY2) format worked. I'll stick to this format and test for a longer time.

Roger Din Also we'd like the system logs.

Wirecast > Help > Send Support Diagnostics but use Save Report and link to it here or send me a link via forum private message. We've tested several AverMedia cards so we need to investigate if this is specific to some aspect of your card. The logs could help us with that.

After resetting the computer the problem came back, even using the YCbCr 4:2:2 (YUY2) option.

In the image above, the remote desktop also does not appear if I use DX12. With DX11 the remote desktop appeared.

After the remote desktop appears using Direct3 11, I can go back to Direct3D 12. The remote desktop continues to appear.

Separate issue. Please start another thread and it must have steps to reproduce because this involves LAN use.

CraigS I had previously said I was testing version 15.0.3, which worked for a while only using the YCbCr 4:2:2 (YUY2) option. However, the next day, even with the option YCbCr 4:2:2 (YUY2) the problem returned, and I had no image on the screen of the capture card.

I have just one more info, these problems do not happen with wirecast version 14.
