QUESTION ON SOCIAL MEDIA COMMENTS

My question is about social media comments in version 15. Is there a limit to how many will show up on-screen? Cause when we are using the feature we noticed it caps out at 250 messages during the live show?

    Which Social Media sites are you using and how many each and how many do you think you should be getting over what time frame?

      Alex Figueroa The limit should be 1000. Are all your comments happening during the live stream?
      Are you only streaming to YouTube or are there other destinations as well receiving comments?
      You mention it's happened twice. Out of how many times?

      It's not clear how many destinations you're streaming to in addition to YouTube. We can't assume you're only streaming to YouTube unless you clear state that (or not).


      Are you only streaming to YouTube or are there other destinations as well receiving comments?

       How are you determining you have more than 250 comments on the live stream?

      The developers need to know how you are determining the total and how you are determining that you have only 250 of those in Wirecast Comments  window (even if it seems obvious to you, the need to know given they do know the limit should be 1000).

      Alex Figueroa We can't reproduce this. We don't see any limit at all and there have been no other reports on this. 
      Our testing, Verified reading of 300+ comments from youtube in a single video. Verified reponses received from youtube after that time - we receive only new chat events properly. Verified posting comments after long delays, no problems noticed.

      We're going to need more precise information showing how you reproduce this.

    There is no limit, its random, just turns off and you can't reconnect to comments.

    Things that appear random often aren't. We need to find the pattern.
    You may need to note a series of steps and try to repeat them. 
    Perhaps if you can screen record when it occurs we can examine it.
    We do need specifics though to reproduce.

  • I used to think the same thing, but once I hit the hour mark, the comments stop populating regardless of how many there are. This has happened 3 times in a row now like clockwork. Is this a Wirecast thing, or a YouTube thing?

     We're not hearing other reports of this. Are you gathering comments from multiple CDNs?
    Although we have no limit perhaps gathering from another CDN is having an impact so we must know what else is happening since we don't have other reports of this. We must have steps to verify this such as showing comments in YouTube's interface vs Wirecast's Social Media interface. 

    If developers have no steps to test, no other reports, verified on their own testing that there's no time or number limit, they may just conclude you have an issue with your channel for an unknown reason. Please provide evidence they can investigate.

    Our testing so far

     

    Cannot reproduce. Verified reading of 300+ comments from youtube in a single video. Verified reponses received from youtube after that time - we receive only new chat events properly. Verified posting comments after long delays, no problems noticed.

    We need some way to verify this.
    Please include visual evidence.
    Please include details if gathering comments from multiple destinations.
    Is it a number of comments or time variable?
    How are you verifying this so we can do the same?

    Developers would like to know if anyone is seeing an error message.
    If Social Media Comments stop (polling for comments fails) Wirecast should throw an error.

  • @CraigS It happened again last night, right at the 1-hour mark. I use a basic setup with no bells or whistles. If it's not happening to others, I wonder if it's on YouTube's end. 

    In the social comments window, I get a small yellow triangle right above the YouTube comments icon, but it doesn't tell me what the error is.

    - I am only streaming to 1 YouTube channel (no simultaneous streams) 

    - I schedule shows from inside Wirecast 

    - I keep the YouTube control room window open because it's easier to see the comments, along with a few other random browser tabs open. 

    - 1 guest via Zoom and my video via capture card

    We've found the issue.
    The issue is fixed and will be in an upcoming release.
