ISO recording for Rendezvous guests

ISO recording for Rendezvous guests. One would be able to record each guest in a Rendezvous call using Wirecast ISO recording feature. People often want to record such calls (as one might do with Skype). Recording each guest individually would allow one to separate edit the guests in post-production or send a guest the recording of their own participation.

  • Please add this! main reason I updated to Pro and then it is not a feature

  • Agreed, it's very misleading. Up to 7 people in Rendezvous and ISO records made me believe the guests were able to be recorded.

Just noting the potential need for significant computer resources for 7 simultaneous records in addition to live streaming and recording of the switched output.

  • With the increasing need to use Rendezvous. ISO recording is a must.  Many times after a live event we need to do post production cleanup before posting the archived show.  Would also like to see Rendezvous count increase from 7 to 12

Please make a separate feature request for that so other users can vote on that specifically.

  • I have submitted a feature request for this. And also for ISO recording of Wirecast Go and IP cameras!

  • Voting for this as well. This is the key reason we purchased the product at the Pro level.

I'm fine with a 720p 30fps limitation, but we need the ISOs of any desired input, specifically the Rendezvous inputs.

  • YES. I didn't know you can't record a rendezvous stream as an ISO in the Pro version until I tried it. We try to get local recordings of any call-in guest, but that's not always possible. This would be a big help even if it's limited to 2 or 3 guests

  • I manage a production studio that is remotely recording with Wirecast Gear due to COVID-19 and this was something we thought would work for smartphone setups. We were very disappointed that we had to temporarily turn to a Tricaster solution for this. We’ve used Wirecast for years and thought it was a no-brainer to invest in several Wirecast Gear setups paired with LiveU for solid streams.

Is this a difficult lift? Could someone please go into detail about what would prevent inclusion of this feature in an upcoming update?

Key issues are variable frame rate over time. Changing frame size (as guest's internet connections can vary over time). The possibility that a guest may disconnect and reconnect. Solutions to these present some decision making given some variables involved.

    • CraigS That's helpful, Craig. Thank you. Not as straightforward as I'm sure we'd all hoped.

Ben Stovall But we are most certainly working on this.

  • Agreed with everyone on this thread. This is the main feature we were looking for when we bought Pro and it's very frustrating to find it doesn't exist!

  • Tried out the trial version of Wirecast (where ISO recording is not available). We were generally happy with Rendezvous and after purchasing Pro, discover ISO recording of rendezvous feeds isn't available anyway!!!!  Feels like a bit of a rip-off to be honest and we should have looked at VMix more carefully.

Eamonn We're certainly aware of the interest and importance of ISO recording Rendezvous but there are some challenges to do it right. We're looking at how to met those challenges.

  • Hello all!  I was disappointed to see that the ISO recording feature did not include Rendezvous guests as well.  I had high hopes as I transitioned to Wirecast from a competing platform.  Craig is so right that there are some serious complexities.  The variable size and frame rate that comes from an internet guest does not allow for a single file as over the course of recording frame rate and resolution will flex based on the guest's bandwidth flexing with internet demand.  This was a promised feature on the other platform I was on and it was nightmarish to get an ISO recording of one caller that was 20 to 60 separate files that were all different specs.  We even tried NDI outs to Pearls with the same result.  One workaround for me, and Craig apologies if this is not legit, but I open multiple Wirecast documents and simple use the documents as guest to record 1:1, no other frills.  Good luck on figuring out the ISO record for Rendezvous guest!  There has to be a magic potion somewhere.  I want a ride on the yacht of whoever figures it out because it will be worth its weight in gold.
