BlackMagic Mini Monitor Glitched Output

We've had this long standing issue where the MiniMonitor Output in Wirecast will output glitched video and no audio, the glitches as seen above.

This occurs in most resolutions, except for 1080p 24 and 720p50. Those have video appear correctly.

This happens across multiple versions of the Desktop Video driver and Wirecast.

Our setup is using an iMac with a Intel i9 and  Pro Vega 42, with an AppleThunderbolt 3 to 2 adapter to TB 2 cable to Mini Monitor.

Has anyone else seen something like this?

Your workflow isn't entirely clear to me.
    Wirecast 14.0.4?
    Wirecast Studio Multi-Viewer output?
    Wirecast Pro Video Out?
macOS and BMD driver may also be relevant. The current version is now 11.7.

You may want to test with a new document.

You may want to test with Wirecast 14.1 Beta as well as there's been further work relating to Blackmagic done.

Just tried Wirecast 14.1, brand new document. Updated the BMD to the latest.

I am using the Wirecast Pro Video Out here.

      macOS 10.15.7

Here are  more examples of the glitches, as you can see they look different based on what output resolution is selected (here 1080p30 and 720p60). Also there is no audio through the BMD output at those resolutions.

Again: 1080p 24 and 720p50 appear correctly visually and contain audio.

Bryce Seifert What is Wirecast Preferences Advanced Video Frame Rate set to?

Can you test using something other than the Shogun, such as a monitor or HDTV with HDMI input?

60fps. I've also tested it with 30, same result.

We've tested this on a variety of monitors or devices, same result across them all

Bryce Seifert Test 30FPS Video Display Preference setting with 30FPS Video Out setting?
Test also with New Document and Wirecast 14.1. Beta to see if it's fixed as we did work with Blackmagic functions.

      Bryce Seifert Investigation number WIRE-18239

You mention this is long-standing. Can you be more specific?
First Wirecast version you saw this with?
What is the frequency of the issue? Every time you use?
      Every x seconds, minutes, continuous?

      Like
    • CraigS Yes, this also happened with 13 and previous 14 builds.
Happens every time I use it, and it's constant.  I've never been able to use anything other than1080p24 or 720p50.

Is it always scrambled or is it a periodic event (what is the frequency)?

    Like
    • CraigS It's always scrambled, with periodic black flashes (as seen in video above).

Bryce Seifert Thanks. It doesn't seem to match the description of any other reports. We've had periodic audio glitches but not the near-complete failure you describe. We have many Mini Monitor users.

Have you tried the Mini Monitor with other programs and/or on another computer?

Bryce Seifert Also you may want to replace video out cable (HDMI or SDI) as the description matches known issues around bad cables in which certain settings will work as you describe. There's also a test you can run using Blackmagic Media Express using imported ProRes clip(s) and the problem frame rates and see if the Mini Monitor sends them out properly. This removes Wirecast from the equation.
