Rendezvous does not connect with Chrome nor Wirecast Go

I’ve read the forum postings about people who are having problems with Rendezvous.  I am having similar problems and have not seen a solution to the issue.  Please advise.  Here is my situation:

My system configuration is:
        • Windows 10 Home.  Version 1709.  OS Build 16299.309
        • Wirecast 8.3.0 (33595) 64 bit
        • Intel i7 /7700 Quad Core 4.2 GHz
        • 64 Gigs RAM
        • NVIDIA Gforce 730 with 1 Gig Ram - Drivers fully up to date
        • StarTech 4 Port PCI Express SuperSpeed USB 3.0 card with 4 Dedicated 5Gbps Channels - UASP-SATA/LP4 Power.  This card connects my 3 web cams.

Scenario 1

·         Launch Wirecast using Empty Document

·         Click + on a layer > Choose Rendezvous Session > Open Rendezvous Dashboard

·         Dashboard window comes up with blank white rectangle

·         Click Start Session and copy the link

·         Email the link to a guest at a remote location.

·         Guest clicks the link and opens Chrome Session

·         Guest’s camera activates and he receives prompt “Waiting to Join”

·         My system never indicates he has clicked the link and the session never joins.

·         Note: we test this several times while talking together on the telephone.

Scenario 2

·         Launch Wirecast using Existing Document for a previous working broadcast

·         Click on Window Menu > Open Rendezvous Dashboard

·         Dashboard window comes up with small rectangle with video from one of my sources

·         Click Start Session and copy the link

·         Email the link to myself.

·         I open the email using my iPhone that has Wirecast Go installed while on the same network as my primary Wirecast machine.

·         Wirecast Go session opens and activates camera and displays prompt “Waiting to Join”

·         My primary system never indicates I have clicked the link and the session never joins.

  • Repeat with iPhone on Verizon LTE network.  Same Results.

I would like to set up two Rendezvous sessions, create two Sources on my video layer that I can use show after show.  I don’t see a way to do this.  Please advise.  Additionally, I would expect the Reconnect to Previous Session button on the Rendezvous dashboard to display a list of previous session links.  However, the button does nothing.  How is one supposed to reuse previous links?

Thank you for any guidance you can provide.

Scott Newman

Both issues indicate that the problem is most likely on the Wirecast computer or your local network.

For testing, completely disable your Firewalls and make sure the Wirecast computer is wired ethernet rather than wireless. This will eliminate some of the variables.

I'm sorry but the intent isn't clear. You can only have one Rendezvous session at a time. Wirecast Studio can have two guests in addition to the host. Wirecast Pro seven guests. The host and each guest can have their own shot or you can create a picture in picture.

The link would be displayed next to Copy on the lower left of the Dashboard unless it has expired (in which case you can't connect to it).

  • CraigS Will do.  And, I'll send a detailed description.  Just FYI, for the moment, I am wired to ethernet, gigabit speed.  And, the Wirecast Go worked for a brief test about a month ago, so something has changed.  Not certain what.  Microsoft pushed the "Meltdown" Windows OS patch and another system update since that time.  I'll check out what I can.  I will be involved in a different, rather intense project for the next two weeks, so you may not hear from me for a bit.  Thanks.

    Scott Newman No problem.
We're working on Wirecast 9 and there's a public beta available so if it is something on the Wirecast end testing in the beta might help but I'm not certain the issue is Wirecast itself yet.

  • Craig,

I'm downloading the v-9.x beta to test with Rendezvous and iOS-Cam/Wirecast Go.  Neither seem to work after the Windows 10 update to protect against the Meltdown vulnerability.

By the way, I love your product, yet I feel the manual does not do Wirecast justice.  I've read it cover-to-cover and it covers the basics, yet cries for more.  So, I've watched your videos, too.  And when I watch I rewind-play-rewind a great deal in order to take plenty of notes.  That said, I've taken to writing some Quick Reference Guides that are pretty detail oriented, because I hope to pass on the technician role to someone else, so I can concentrate more on the show than the production.  I'm pretty happy with what I prepared for 8.3 and am wondering if you would like to something similar for 9.0.  My goal is to write a set of short guides that would take a new Wirecast user through the complete step-by-step setup of a show.  Attached is a sample of my work.  I'd love to hear your thoughts.

The new more recent 9 (34022)?
Wirecast Go Rendezvous/Wirecast Cam feature worked previous to the most recent Windows update?
What iOS version and which iPhone model?
Have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling Wirecast Go?
