It's possible there's a compatibility issue with the source file.
it's also possible the MacMini is struggling with the decode.

If these are the imported sources what created them?
You can try converting them to Apple ProRes first before importing.
Right click the problem source file on your desktop and then select "Encode Selected Video Files" (in some cases it can be under Services) and from the popup box select Apple ProRes.

I am having the same issue. ScreenFlow 6 worked with Zoom just fine. ScreenFlow 7 is turning my video green. It seems like this is a known issue with ScreenFlow. When will you fix this? I'm in a launch and I have hard deadlines.

    Thanks.

Lorna Li Please test with the free trial of ScreenFlow 8.2.1 to see if the issue has been fixed. Otherwise you should be testing with ScreenFlow 7.3.2 an not 7.0 for example. Zoom file compatibility also depends on a setting in Zoom for recording. That's independent of the ScreenFlow version which may be entirely coincidental.

  • CraigS I am having the exact same issue as Lorna Li. I used Screenflow 7 with no issues, all versions, but screenflow 8 with video recorded from Zoom turns green. I'm using the newest macbook pro laptop fully upgraded to the max, have never had problems before upgrading to 8, same computer, and now everything turns green. HELP!

Jamie Thoma Swanson Zoom requires you to create a file compatible with editing software during the recording. Please read this post.

This is such BS. I worked HOURS upon hours and now half my clips are green. Why are there no warnings about this when you buy it? I just bought it today and you kind of expect something to work the first day you  get it, you know? Now I have to hand-replace every single clip that's green. Thanks. Is there by chance any way to replace a clip with a different format and keep the editing on it? That would save a ton of work. Also, what file formats does the software accept, anyway? I don't get why mp4s are not "compatible", it's a very standard format.

Zoom has the option. We can't control the codecs used by third parties. The Zoom compatibility issue isn't specific to ScreenFlow.

Their issue and they offer a solution.

I noticed one thing later on, that the mp4 files in my Finder were already turning green. So I can see this is not specific to Screenflow. Nonetheless it was a huge pain to recreate my clips in the .mov format. But that worked in the end. The changing mp4 files into the Apple Prores format by right-clicking on the file did not always work. In fact, mostly it did not. The new file format was still green. I just wish this warning was in huge letters when someone buys your software.

William Harris I'd have to look at the file directly (you can send link by forum private message if you prefer). I've tested optimized files in the past and they do work.

This would mean that AVFoundation (Apple's inbuilt media handling) can't decode the files.

That would not be specific to our software. Any (in fact nearly every) NLE may have issues decoding some files. Sometimes that requires building custom decoders and sometimes that's not easy depending on how the source file was created.

  • I upgraded to Screenflow 8 after many successful years and videos edited with SF 6 and 7.  I have never seen such bugs in my life.  I wasted 3 hours today doing something that should have taken 30 minutes due to the green error here and video SIMPLY DISAPPEARING!
If you are reading this, DO NOT UPGRADE.  The gall of the fact I had to pay for this breaking update is outrageous and yet another reason why this company is in decline.

Dwayne McDaniel Interesting it happened when you upgraded, so maybe it has something to do with the software not adapting to the Mac changes.
