Big problem with screen flow 8.0
Hello,
I made a few days ago the update to version 8.0 (31269).
I am on a MacBook 12' early 2015 with OS 10.13.6.
Everything worked well with screenflow 6 then with screenflow 7 but now it's a real nightmare for me to work with screenflow 8.
It's slow, I am blocked with the spinning wheel very often and have to force to quit to go on.
Now I am trying to export a small video and it crashed during the export (the export doesn't progress anymore after 2-3 hours...).
I am very disappointed.

CraigS Hi,
Thank you for your response.
It was a document created with screenflow 8 and I had previously made the maintenance of my macbook with Onyx.
It seems that Onyx was not enough because I tried with the Disk Utility and First Aid button and now it's much much better (I saw the spinning wheel only once since 2 hours of work).
I hope that it will go on like that and that I can now enjoy screenflow 8 and the media library which is really great !! Very happy to have subscribed at this !!

Similar issues here... just upgraded to 8 on Mac Mini w/ Intel I-5, 16 gig or ram and 75 gig of open space on solid state HD. Very disappointing performance. Video playback freezes (while audio continues to play), lots of spinning beach balls...lots of waiting. Rebooted PC, closed all other open programs... no help. Any help or suggestions appreciated.

CraigS Yup...did it. No discernible change. Disk Utility found no errors on the drive. I'm running Mac Activity Monitor, and it's showing a LOT of CPU usage for ScreenFlow and related apps. Working along, SF will show beach ball, freeze, and show Not Responding in Activity Monitor. Wait a minute...it comes back, if only for another couple of minutes use. Monitor screenshot included.

CraigS Very simple project. 8 MB .mp3 audio file for background music and 14.5 MB .mp4 video file. The video is a local recording of a Zoom screenshare session. Shows 1920 x 1080 / H.264 / AAC codecs. Zoom allows "meetings" to be saved on your local computer. That was done on co-workers Windows machine, then handed off to me for editing. (If that matters...)
In the interest of full and fair reporting, I will say I'm seeing similar behavior when I try to use the same source files in the previous version of ScreenFlow. I just upgraded to 8 this morning, and still have 7.3.1 on my Mac. (Again, if that matters...) Thanks for the help.

Bill Sklodowski In the meantime you can fix the file and re-import it.

Hi Craig,
I had the same issue of freezing videos and spinning balls with a file coming from my iphone 7 Plus.
I tried your tip of to fix the file and it solved the problem.
This bug is then not just with zoom videos.
(Just for info, the files imported from my iPhone 7 Plus had a black image and a normal sound with screenflow 7).

Charlotte Renard iPhones can record in two possible codecs. H.264 which is compatible and HEVC which was not compatible. Since you state

We are seeing the same exact thing with almost any type of file. It's the same with Zoom files, iphone, as well as other webinar platform exports.Sorry you're experiencing issues but I can only help with specifics. Zoom has to be set to third party editor compatibility. This is a Zoom issue as their default recordings have problems in many editors, not specific to ScreenFlow.
IPhone files need to be set to Most Compatible. -
This is the worst update Screenflow has done since I have been using the software. One month after release still no new bug fixing updates which are clearly being felt by users. I am beyond disappointed and looking for alternatives now. Timelines can can take forever to zoom in. Audio tracks within video do not display sound levels on time line making syncing almost impossible for multiple source input. (just found a fix by detaching audio but why do I have to detach? Sometimes it doesn't record the camera. Please don't drag your feet with fixes. I am never been so unproductive. Highly spec'd Mac with 16gb ram should be a breeze... Always having to rebuild audio levels and then hanging...
