Big problem with screen flow 8.0
Hello,
I made a few days ago the update to version 8.0 (31269).
I am on a MacBook 12' early 2015 with OS 10.13.6.
Everything worked well with screenflow 6 then with screenflow 7 but now it's a real nightmare for me to work with screenflow 8.
It's slow, I am blocked with the spinning wheel very often and have to force to quit to go on.
Now I am trying to export a small video and it crashed during the export (the export doesn't progress anymore after 2-3 hours...).
I am very disappointed.

CraigS So far so good with new update. Appreciate the apology but you need to realise that you promoted software that was unusable for a month. You should have pulled it and apologised and said we will fix the bugs and re-release. As it turned out I was blaming myself thinking I was doing things wrong. I recorded in the new format thinking these templates are great only to have most of the month a write off as the production issues were unsolvable. I am glad you have fixed it but your communication has not been where it should have been. It will need to improve greatly to stop me considering competitor products.

Colin Dunkerley It's always possible certain configs are impacted. There's more variations in use than a developer can verify. We do testing on common systems but can't always cover every scenario possible. Many people (the vast majority) had been using 8 without incident. Sorry about that but that's not uncommon with any software. You will find this with any software product. Even Apple and Microsoft face these issues.

Well another week down the track and I've got to say I'm active looking for alternatives. I cannot believe how a good product can be destroyed so badly. The audio builds even with thumnail and waveforms turned off is still horrendously slow. Even trying to watch back an edit will have me pause with the audio continuing to play and the spinning beach ball appear. I'm trying to find something positive about this version but alas it has burnt me so badly that I don't have time to find them. Recommendations anyone?

Colin Dunkerley If you're finding them slow please do report the issue. Perhaps do a screen recording showing how slow they are if you can.

I am having the same lagging problem with my playback in my timeline. I am using the most recent update of 8.1, and a mid-2014 macbook pro running High Sierra (10.13.6)
I already ran disk utility and deleted the preferences and rebooted several times and nothing is making this any better. As you can see in the video clip I uploaded (sorry for the bad audio, i was rushing), the clips in the beginning that I point out arent even showing up at all during playback.
To top it off, they aren't even video clips, they are png images... and yet screenflow can't handle rendering them??? that seems insane.
help please!

We are seeing the exact same issues. We see the issues also in files that once had no problems in previous versions. I really wish Telestream would take ownership for these issues. There are people all over the web complaining of the same issues. Completely unacceptable and makes the product completely unusable. We have been forced to use iMovie and other Adobe products.

Gabi Nelson I'd like to see the project or the problem file directly so I can test.
For ScreenFlow 7.x see Previous Versions at the top of the page using this link.
You'd have to start the project over in 7 since documents are not backward compatible.

CraigS you can download the screenflow file here. if you download the folder you should get it as a zip file that when unzipped is still a screenflow file

Gabi Nelson Thanks. That helped immensely. If I jog through the timeline I see the clips in question act as expected. I play the timeline and it's as if those clips don't exist.
Fill out the previously posted support form (further up the thread) and include a link to the project. You can also add that I've confirmed the issue.
