Virtual Microphone

Hello,

I'm unable to get the "Wirecast Virtual Microphone" to work in Beta v11.

  • Please note the OS and the programs you tried to use it with. For example, if you tested with Skype include the version and whether it was from the Microsoft Store or the Skype website.

  • Will Johnson Are you able to access Virtual Mic in Skype but just don't get audio or is the driver itself not available?

  • CraigS You are spot on.  I can see the "vMic" within Skype, it just anyone one the other end is unable to hear any audio from Wirecast.  The "vCam" works because they can see the video out put from Wirecast.

  • Will Johnson Let's confirm there's nothing system specific. If you run Wirecast 10.1.1 does Virtual Mic work? I want to make sure this is an issue specific to the beta.

  • The reason why I'm not running 10.x is because the audio keeps bouncing between channels within Wirecast.  When running 9.x the audio works fine as well as the "vMic" to Skype.

  • Will Johnson The development and support team only work off the current version. You'd have to test in 10.1 and may want to test in 11 beta since some fixes are already implemented there.

  • I will install 10.x and test it on my system.  I found the issues when running 11 beta.

  • Will Johnson Thanks for noting that. Testing in 10.1.1 on Mac may help us determine if the issue was introduced in the beta.

  • CraigS  I installed 10.1.1 and every time I go to start the "Virtual Camera Out" I get a message that says it's not installed.  I install it and reboot and once it opens back up I get the same message again.  I've done it 4 times now.

  • Will Johnson Check System Preferences > Security & Privacy > General and see if it says Allow when trying to install. macOS 10.13.x and up may require some drivers to get permissions to install. I suspect Beta 11 replaced the driver and the 10.1.1 driver is not overwriting it.

  • Will Johnson Not sure if they'll be a beta for this. If you've submitted a report and received a case number you can offer to test the fix using the case number in the subject field.

  • CraigS I downloaded version 11 and Skype is now getting the audio.  The only problem is the audio is delayed 20 seconds and it drags very slow.  I've rebooted my Mac along with my Router just make sure the connection was not the issue.  I will put in a support ticket.

  • Will Johnson - I would be interested to hear about your delayed audio issue. This is one of the reasons why I decided to not use Skype / Virtual Microphone and to use Rendezvous instead. I don't need the virtual mic in the near future - but would like to hear that its available should it be required.

    Let me know when it is resolved.

  • Greg Kuhnert how are you sending the end user the video and audio feed from Wirecast using Rendezvous?

  • Greg Kuhnert Interesting... I was unable to get Rendezvous to work before and in version 11 it seems to be working nicely.

  • Will Johnson Indeed - it is working well - with a few known limitations, but it works. I use it every time I go live. But, I'd still like to hear back on the virtual mic issue. I intend to do some stuff with Discord one day using the virtual mic. Let me know how you go with that.

    I stand corrected... Rendezvous is not working for me.  I get a very bad echo with using it and the audio to mobile devices are really low.  I must be doing something wrong. I will say it works better than before.  I'm still waiting on the Support Team to get back with me on the service ticket I opened with them.
