.mov files not supported when added as a media file?

Using the latest version of Wirecast on my Surface Book 2 (Win 10 Pro) and when i try to import a media file, and its a .mov it says file type not supported, does Wirecast not support .mov files for live streaming or am i doing something wrong.

  • mov is just a Container. It depends what's inside it. You can check with VLC or Stream.

  • Again, mov and mp4 are both Containers that can handle different essenses. It depends on the essenses how the stream is encoded. Using h.264 with ACC is very common and widely supported.

  • Tommy O As Jens says, .mov (and .mp4) is a container which can contain any number of codecs. Compatibility may be dependent on codec. If you'd like us to check your original file please do attach it or post a link to it and I'll check it for you.
