MP4 Conversion for Editing

Hi there..

I have some MP4 (delivery footage) that I wish to edit within ScreenFlow.

I know that the this format cannot be directly imported into ScreenFlow in it's native state, so was going to invest in a decent Conversion App for this workflow.

I'm not what I would describe as a 'Media Master' so was looking for a little expert guidance in terms of the best format to be outputting my MP4 Footage - to get an optimal editing results within ScreenFlow 6.2.1.

I have trawled a number of the forum groups, old and new, as well as some decent Blog info that steered me down this path, but if I've missed answer to this question elsewhere please accept my sincere apologies.

Kindest

Andy

Justin Wunderlich Thanks. The clip the camera is pointing to looks like it's playing too fast. I'm not sure I understand what I'm seeing since I can't tell how the clip being recorded was playing back. I'd really need to see a recording of the camera recording you talking for example. Your own voice in that recording sounds normal.

  • That's exactly my problem. Did you watch the full video? Because in it I say "30 second test" which is not sped up. The audio is fine for some reason. But the video plays back at double the speed.

  • I'll record something else to see if it continues and send it to you.

  • And of course now it's working fine >.> I'll monitor it and send you something when it does this again. But it is most likely the camera. I recorded myself drumming when I first got them a few days ago. 1 clip came out fine speed-wise, but the audio was still off. The other clip was 2x the the video speed in playback ON the camera, so it's probably the camera. I even just swapped to a different SD card(same exact model, just different one out of the 3 I received) but it's working regardless of SD cards. So, who knows..

Perhaps the issue was with that specific recording. The camera may have an odd relationship between its internal video and audio recording.

  • CraigS  Yeah im not really sure. It seemed to happen on and off when I first got the cameras. Now the one that was messing up isn't doing it anymore.
Now, to see if they export the same as my older action cameras did within Screenflow lol

Justin Wunderlich Perhaps there's an intermittent issue with the camera or the SD card?

  • CraigS  Yeah that's possible. Seems to be working now though. Thanks for all the help!
