#00692224 - Wirecast Virtual Camera and/or Rendezvous - its broken

I have been battling with an issue recently. Today, I did some tests to nail this down conclusively.

In the past, I have used the Virtual Camera in Wirecast to link in to other webrtc applications, with the virtual mic enabled. This worked well to allow me to be creative with my feed.  However, recently this appears to be broken with web browsers.

My setup:

  • Wirecast 13.0.2
  • OS: Mojave 10.14.6 (18G2022)
  • Hardware: Tested on both an iMac, and a MacBook Pro
  • Firefox: 71.0 (64-bit)
  • Chrome: 78.0.3904.97 (Official Build) (64-bit)

Test scenario 1: Virtual camera into https://whereby.com/telestreamtest using Chrome:

  • Microphone PASS
  • Virtual camera FAIL

Test scenario 2: Virtual camera into https://whereby.com/telestreamtest using Firefox:

  • Microphone PASS
  • Virtual camera PASS

Test scenario 3: Virtual camera into a rendezvous session using Chrome:

  • Microphone PASS
  • Virtual camera FAIL

Test scenario 4: Virtual camera into a rendezvous session using Firefox:

  • Microphone FAIL
  • Virtual camera FAIL

Identical results on both computers.

Is anyone else having luck using the virtual camera as an input source for WEBRTC sessions? And if so, is it OSX or Windows that works for you?

  • Some browser updates may have broken compatibility. We contact the developers as we can. We understand Chrome 80 will fix these issues specific to their browser fo course.

  • Hi,

Sorry to bring up an old thread. Has this been addressed in Chrome 80? I’m having similar issues using virtual camera with both Chrome and Firefox.
