Audio Mixer recommendations for Church/Worship Group
I need help deciding what audio mixer I should purchase for my church/worship group which has been livestreaming since covid. My current setup is an allen & heath zed 16fx which is what we use for front of house sound. For streaming I send an aux out from the allen and heath into a smaller mackie mixerwhich is the board I normally use for streaming other events. This setup is a pain in the butt. So what board do you recommend or what features should I be looking for when researching boards.
The other issue and maybe it is user error it is very difficult to keep a consistent level.
Perhaps you need a board with a built-in compressor.
It seems you'd need an easy way to do a house mix and a separate stream mix.
implementing dante would be beneficial
Dante Virtual Sound Card. We have customers doing just that. Keep in mind your need for signal processing (compressor for example) and integrating that.
I don’t know if this will help you but we are using a Behringer X32 Digital mixer for the House mix at our church.
Utilizing the X-32 app on a second monitor on our Windows 10 streaming computer, we build our streaming mix on an Aux channel of the X32 then feed that to a high impedance input on a small Behringer mixer (Xenyx 12) at the stream desk. Very light compression is applied to the mix off the X32 as it leaves the Aux channel. The small mixer has a couple of mic inputs dedicated to ambient noises in the house such as congregational singing. Those mics do not run through the X32.
The Xenyx has a USB output we use to plug the audio into the stream computer. We mix and monitor audio at the stream desk with acoustically-sealed earbuds running through a switch that allows us to listen to the mix coming from the X32 or to monitor the audio on our stream. Our stream desk is partially isolated acoustically from the house which helps setting up the mix.
