Glitchy video from ProPresenter
Hello,
We've been running some homemade announcement videos at our church. They are either produced through Final Cut X (in M4V), DaVinci Resolve (in MP4), or Shotcut (in MP4) usually as 720p at 24 fps. We are played through ProPresenter to our projection system and to Wirecast via NDI. For the most part, they always look glitchy. Here's an example of this week's video.
Anyone else experiencing this issue? It's definitely frustrating.
Not sure what system specs are needed, so I'll give you some basics.
- Wirecast 420 running the newest Wirecast software.
- iMac i9 running ProPresenter 7 (I'm assuming the most recent version).
- Ubiquiti UniFi Switch 8-Port 150 Watts

Please check that NDI is sending properly.
On the Wirecast computer please run Newtek NDI Video Monitor and see how it looks in that.
Please include version numbers of Pro Presenter and Wirecast. The current version of Wirecast is 14.0.4. -
CraigS Will do. I'm almost certain our Wirecast is at 14.0.4 but I'll check tomorrow AM during our Men's Bible study.

CraigS Ok...confirmed our ProPresenter is at 7.3 and Wirecast is 14.0.4. I also watched the video through NDI Monitor and it was glitchy there as well. I recorded if you need to see a copy but I'll have to upload it later. I didn't have time this morning.

First check playback of the files in ProPresenter.-

CraigS Ok, I ran a test on our ProPresenter (PP) Mac. Playing the video through PP looked fine. I also downloaded and installed NDI Video Monitor and the video played fine on the Mac. Could it be a switch issue? We have all eight ports used up on the Ubiquti switch.

CraigS Ok...could it be the onboard network interface? Here's a picture of what a typical broadcast session looks like. This was four cameras and ProPresenter...so five NDI connections.
Our network guru asked if we could switch to a Gigabit interface?

Brian Willis It's possible five simultaneous network connections can be stressing the network. That could be between 500-600mb/s over the network and it looks like you're even higher at nearly 800. You'd want Gigabit at a minimum and it can still stress the network.

CraigS Any recommendations for an adapter to use on an Wirecast 420?

Brian Willis Gear 420 has Gigabit Ethernet built-in.
The issue may be that Gigabit may not be enough, otherwise, you may want an isolated network so nothing else is on it other than the cameras. Some may consider 10Gig but that means building a more expensive network. -
CraigS Thanks for that info. I guess I should have looked closer at my image to see it was a gigabit connection. Doh!
I guess an option could be to run the ProPresenter video into an SDI in on the Wirecast. Thanks for the help!
