Screen dimension setting do not revert
As a Screenflow newbie I tried adjusting my screen size to a rectangle (Mac 27) for a recording. On exiting, I am still left with one side of the screen that is still darkened (as the recording ws set) and I cannot find a way of deleting the setting. When I open a new document I can reset the 'box' to include all the screen but on exiting the program the same partially obscured side returns.

Retina display size can't really be changed in macOS preferences.

What version of ScreenFlow and macOS are you using? -
There is an option to change the size of the screen that is recorded - the dotted outline of a box - and I used that to reduce the area of the screen that was being recorded. The part of the screen that is excluded remains shadowed - but still operational. I could not find a way of removing the shadow unless I restarted the computer.

But if you do a New Recording (not New Document) you change it here

That's supposed to be there as a guide to your entire recording in case you need to reposition or crop again to adjust.
