Rendezvous Audio filter and music

We are trying to use Randevous to bring in musicians that have to play during a livestream session.  The only issue is that Rendezvous appear to have some audio filter (probably to reduce echo or noise) but this make the sound be like in a phaser or compressor. Is possible to have the original audio without this filter (for example Zoom have this feature called "Original Audio").

Thanks

  • Christos Vayenas So Chris. I understand you have a new requirement.... beyond what was reported in this thread. To quote the original poster...

Lets start there shall we, since the OP stated that The Zoom "Original Audio" is the requested capability.

And one more thing. There is logic in starting there. I know how slow it is to change things. By keeping it to a simple checkbox, you might have a chance of getting something happening in a shorter time. If you ask for all singing all dancing knobs to change every WebRTC parameter under the sun .... that might take a bit longer.

If we give our Telestream friends something simple to start with in the form of a single checkbox and matching configuration, that will give us all hope until we reach nirvana. They dont have enough resources to fix bugs that have been reported two or more years ago, so lets not try to stretch them further on something of this size and complexity.

  • Greg Kuhnert  your point is well taken, didn't mean to steer the topic, perhaps I should have just started another post specific to my exact needs.. either way I appreciate your perspective/advice on the matter. Right now I'm dealing with trying to provide streaming gigs for hundreds of starving musicians, and apologize if some of the urgency/demand of that work may have unintentionally influenced my posts. Either way I'm very excited for any changes Telestream could make in this direction, as it would be a huge step forward for professional remote streaming music event production

I totally understand your motivation. I am a musician, and have many professional musician friends as well. (and drummer friends too - .... can't forget the drummers. Where would the world be without them?)

I just know the reality of how long some of these things would take to deliver, and the other long overdue items that would get pushed further down the queue as a sacrifice to deliver what you are asking.

  • CraigS Much appreciated. I like the way your company (team) is interacting with customers like us.

  • Christos Vayenas: I think your post here and request is absolutely aligned with what I mentioned when I initiated this discussion. I said something like "Original Sound in Zoom", and my statement was not limiting that we should BE like Zoom if we (yes as a customer I like to feel part of this) can BE BETTER. Again, as I mentioned in my previous post, timing in delivering the features is up to Telestream and can be broken in releases, and I understand that Greg Kuhnert  is rushing for a first release that will remove "filters" (and I will more than happy!) but option in software are unlimited (I run a software company) and with a clear strategy and delivery plan, all improvements can be delivered over time. I have tested Cleanfeed as Christos Vayenas suggested and I was almost shocked about the quality of the audio, no matter if with speech or music, and I just used their free version (paid allow to increase the quality of audio up to 320kbs). So if RV is using OPUS, as CraigS confirmed (thanks for this opening with us Craig) we are just a step away from those possibilities (including top tier audio), and I totally agree with Christos Vayenas  than nothing is preventing RV at this point to become the best platform for Audio and Video and with the integration in Wcast.. will be a killer app for streamer (RV is not designed to compete with Zoom).

  • Ermanno Bonifazi  I'm very glad to hear this thread has been helpful for you, our exchange has certainly been a valuable resource for me to increase my understanding of WebRTC audio codecs and their potential uses for streaming remote sources; I truly hope these changes can be implemented sooner rather than later, as for me it's a very simple situation-Wirecast is basically unusable for me until this issue is resolved; until then I will be using programs like Stage Ten for my productions, and I'm sure we are not the only musicians having these issues!

  • We are most certainly investigating the viability. Some things we need to look at are the impact on system resources and how this might be handled in the user interface

  • The developers certainly understand the importance of taking full advantage of the OPUS codec and its audio options which can improve music handling.

  • Very keen to hear how this goes as we are looking to solve the same problem in the UK, and want to use Rendezvous but currently its a non-starter.

  • We are having the same problem here at Radio A1A. We of course start with the audio quality and include the video using wirecast rendezvous. We are keenly following this thread as well. This is only one small problem we are having with rendezvous at this time. But I agree. TV is just radio with pictures. Everything starts with audio.

  • Christos Vayenas We're working on a beta that will have Rendezvous improvements. Not all the improvements will be in the first beta release but you should be able to check this soon.

Codec changes are done by our server team and they may not have implemented yet.
