Cannot choose Ultra HD with Logitech Brio 4k-webcam

Hi,

when I start a new recording I cannot choose a resolution above FullHD (1920x1080) with my Logitech Brio Webcam, which supports 4k. See screenshot attached.

Working on macOS 11.5.2 (Big Sur) with Screenflow 10.0.3. Also have installed the newest Logitech Camera Settings (3.0.23).

Thanks in advance!

Bertold Netz Sorry for the delayed response. Is the Brio connected directly or through a hub? Does the Brio show as 4k when using Quicktime to record?

  • Through a hub.

When I use Quicktime I don't know how to see if it's 4k. Recording and saving it as .mov seems to make HD-video only.

Do you think it might be the hub? Actually I don't have any free USB-ports on the Mac Pro directly, and the hubs are all USB 3.

Yes it's possible it could be the hub.
Given the number of ports in use it's possible you're hitting a bus bandwidth limit as well. Can you try using USB3 directly to the Mac Pro.

At 4K it's best there be nothing else on the bus and multiple ports may be on the same bus.
