SRT Input (Listen) mode to bring in as source
SRT (Secure Reliable Transport) Input (Listen) mode to bring in as source. SRT supports both output and input. Wirecast SRT Output is already in development. We'd like to gauge development priority for input/listen mode. Please include a specific use case if possible.

CraigS this is amazing news, is there an ability to create a separate mix for the rendezvous room with this update? Can’t wait to install it, the chat is a great stopgap measure even if a separate mix is still not possible-thanks to the team!

I wouldn't wait much longer to implement SRT. Check out the latest demo from JVC touting vMix (not to mention their own system). I love Wirecast. I'd hate to have to jump ship!

Bernard Clinch As previously noted Output is already in development (and in Wirecast beta 14.1 right now) how would you use LISTEN mode specifically?

CraigS Utilizing a JVC GY-HC550, I would have higher quality, more stable input into Wirecast from location sources. Why? Rendezvous, however handy, is, at times, subject to pixelation.

Bernard Clinch Rendezvous is based on WebRTC. I am not sure about that : I recall reading that it is using flash that is since a while obsolete. Am I right ?
I really wonder what is the future of Rendezvous in front of the fantastic direction offered with SRT ?

Few debates are heating up CraigS .. both in Rendevous, than Wirecast than SRT, some very good feedback and proposal were pushed by the user base and none (none) realized, but "the power" (as you call it) or "the developers" seems to follow only on their own agenda (putting wheels and changing existing features only for aesthetic) or introducing CPU overload and instability: that do not seems a winning plan, my dear...Signed: another user waiting for alternative to leave.

Ermanno Bonifazi Work on SRT is being done. There's also work we do that other developers don't have to given that Wirecast is cross-platform. We also pay attention to user interface and that's often an important decision when choosing a streaming appliance. For some businesses that a deciding factor.

Reynold I saw your message in my mail box that revived a very painful issue of SRT input that Wirecast did not address (nor the very criticized app Go for Mac users).
Thank you so much to re-input in this forum this demand on a so longstanding issue already expressed by so many people since so many years. I notice from the answer from the Moderator that there is a vote for this.
I will not participate to this "vote' because it had been asked/requested/begged already and including myself.
If you go to the Facebook group of Wirecast Users and check the past messages you see a large number of message from people looking for the very good alternatives vMix (on Windows only) or OBS (for Mac and free). These are very kind people on the group that would help you to get the very needed SRT input. Good luck. -

Currently I need to use OBS and then virtual cam to Wirecast as an input. It would be great to just use one app. I'm on a Mac, and I'm so envious of how vMix can input/output SRT with the greatest of ease.-
Richie Can you please explain your complete workflow? The developers want detailed information as there are many ways to handle this.

CraigS We’ve been using SRT for our Newsroom in ENG by using a Panasonic AG-CX350 4K Camcorder, a Panasonic AG-CX10 4K Camcorder and Video encoders from Kiloview for some older Sony camcorders. Port forwarding has been configured on our firewall to allow the respective teams to send video and audio to the Anchor during the newscast and lately we’ve been using the return audio for IFB.
This works flawlessly with our 2 vMix workstations, but I’m on a 16 Inch Mackbook Pro and have to use OBS to capture the SRT stream and then Wirecast in one of our studios, before relaying to the Anchor or sub producer. This adds latency and CPU overhead and is just messy. I guess I can simply use OBS or get a Windows machine and use vMix which is more elegant. I’ve made the investment in time to learn Wirecast and I guess I’m just stubborn.
SRT is rolling out in so much hardware and while we wait for Wirecast and or NDI Bridge the pressure to migrate and learn something new is on.

Thank you so much Richie to set again the focus on this SRT input feature that so many people had already requested. All of them –as you did– detailed their workloads, explained their needs in order to motivate their request.
I know that many people since many months have to use tricks like the one that you detailed with OBS and then virtual cam to Wirecast as an input. There is on Facebook many threats on this. All are taken aback by the fact that this obvious feature is only available in OBS and vMix. In my case I delayed a life long project waiting to master alternative processes. Also on a Mac, I'm also so envious of how vMix can input/output SRT with the greatest of ease.
E.g. only in this threat (but there is many others) one year ago the moderator already asked in order to gauge development priority for input/listen mode [SRT]. Please include a specific use case if possible.
I do wonder how long it would take for Telestream make sure developers [of Wirecast] see this [SRT input request].

Dazibao Please make sure you vote. If I report the vote totals over time and the developers don't see a change in votes they may not see an increase in demand for a feature.
