Best EDITING format?

Greetings, I have been a heavy SF user since v1 and I rarely have to work with videos other people provide. I currently have a client who is recording video in Camtasia on a PC and the files are small but it absolutely CHOKES SF when I do any work on it. And I have a very powerful 2019 iMac Pro. This begs me to wonder... what is the best format and encoding settings for a video to EDIT optimally? I want to run their videos through AME to have a better experience in SF. Tips?

Best editing format is Apple ProRes. The worst in H.264/HEVC. There are some H.264 formats from certain cameras and sources (GoPro or Zoom when recording isn't set to compatible) which can be problematic.

This is why ScreenFlow 9 now supports Proxies.
