.scc failure - want to rescue recordings

Using screen flow Version 10.0.5 (31892)

I get sometimes a file xyz.scc what is some Gigabyte but cannot be opened. Tried to open another recording and to add that xyz.scc to media. Seems to convert somehow but failed after very long time lately.

Anyone with some idea how to rescue these files? Maybe with a video how-to?

regards, wolf

Hold Shift and open the Help menu and use Recover Screen Recording.

  • I did. Doesn't work. Wants to be saved as none.scc but then I get the colored wheel of death. To save as none. screen flow is refused as impossible.

Wolf-Dietrich Trenner Please try saving to your system drive.

Your screenshot shows otherwise. You can leave the .scc in place.

It's entirely possible the recording is damaged beyond repair.

Wolf-Dietrich Trenner It probably means the recording is corrupted beyond repair. Sorry.

Wolf-Dietrich Trenner Sorry to hear that. Perhaps it's related to recording to the Samsung drive.
What is your ScreenFlow Capture Scratch Disk set to?
Is your drive formatted for Mac (rather than Windows which can be an issue)?

Wolf-Dietrich Trenner See if you can repeat the scenario with a new recording. Let's see if this is an ongoing problem. As per my above questions, we'd like repeatable steps and configuration. See if it happens if you don't use the Samsung drive.

  • I record every week minimum one conference (Zoom, Webex, Bigbluebutton ...). I did it with WD Elements, Samsung T5 and Samsung T7 and my book Thunderbolt. The results are: 90% OK, 10% like the ones we talk about. This is really a problem as the events are onetime. The only feature they have in common is: more than 20GB

     Please provide the above information.

Connections may be an issue in some cases as well. Given you say you can't recover the .scc field when it fails it may well be a hardware issue corrupting the files (bad cable, etc). Sorry but I don't have enough information. It's possible a dock/hub or port bottleneck could be at issue as well.
