Screenflow no longer works with iPhone running iOS 16 Beta

I'm running the iOS 16 beta on my iPhone, and it does not work with Screenflow on macOS 12.5. It worked on macOS 12.4 just fine, but it stopped working after it auto-updating macOS. Now I just get a "No video frames received from device" when trying to screen record the iPhone.

I'm assuming this is more of an Apple issue than a Screenflow issue since QuickTime Player can no longer get video frames from the iPhone either. Both Screenflow and QuickTime detect the iPhone is there, it just won't show or record any video.

Has anyone else experienced it? Any fix coming?

My details:

  • Screenflow 10.0.6 (not via Apple)
  • MacBook Pro (14-inch, 2021), M1 Max
  • macOS 12.5 Monterey
  • iPhone 12 Pro with iOS 15.6 works fine in Screenflow
  • iPhone 12 with iOS 16 beta 4 does not work in Screenflow
  • iPhones connected via Lightning to USB-C cable
  • All iPhones worked with Screenflow 10.0.6 and 10.0.5 on macOS 12.4

Thanks for all that detail and reporting. It seems like it may be due to the iOS beta since you're also seeing this in Quicktime.
Just in case, can you reset the iPhone otherwise you may want to wait until the iOS 16 release. There may well be another macOS update when 16 is released if the macOS is part of the issue.

    • CraigS I'll probably have to wait it out. I've talked to other people running the beta with macOS 12.5 installed and they have the same connection issue. I'd try out the macOS 13 beta, but it looks like I may experience other issues too.

J Burkites After all, that's why they're betas. Do keep track of the progress though as will we.

  • Looks like the latest iOS 16 beta fixed the QuickTime and Screenflow issue in macOS 12.5 (at least, for me). Someone also told me installing the macOS 13 beta worked for them.

J Burkites Thanks for reporting. Proof that betas are a work in progress. 😉
It's why we wait until Release Candidates and Gold Masters before we see what's not fixed at that point.
