Switch does not play WMV3/WMA2-file

I have a bunch of old files in WMV3 WMA2 that I would like to be able to open (and rather to export). Flip4mac on my newer macs is able to read the video file, but not the sound. It works perfectly on my old imac G5 (but there I am not able to (re)activate Flip4mac, so I cannot export).

I upgraded to Switch, but my Switch Player 4 (4.5.7) says "unformatted file format". OSX 10.14.6.

Have uploaded one of the files here:

(It currently says .mov, but no difference when changing suffix.)

I can't get anything to play the audio reliably although it appears to be WMA2.

INA, MPEGStreamClip, QuickTime Player 7. VLC, FlipPlayer all have issues with the audio.

as WMV I can't get it to play on Windows 10 Media Player at all.

You can contact support and see if they'll get you a license for your older computer.

  • Thank you for looking into it. It is the same experience I have had. Nothing seems to work, exept from the old computer.
