Transition to next shot when timer reaches zero

How can I set up a playlist with a countdown timer on the first shot and have it automatically transition to the next shot when the timer reaches zero?

I'd like to set up a countdown timer on the first shot announcing that the livestream will start in XX:XX time. When the timer reaches zero, I'd like it to automatically move to the next shot which says "Stream starting soon."

I know I can set the duration of the first shot to match the total time on the timer, but I may need to adjust the timer on the fly, so it would be nice if the transistion triggered on the timer reaching zero rather than a set interval.

Can this be done?

  • You can use single shots in a playlist and there's some control of where it goes to in the lower right. Next shot or next playlist could be in Preview for example.

Within a playlist each shot can have a custom duration and then will advance to the next shot.

I agree there are options to use a playlist, but this would be a trivial enhancement that could have a range of "easy of use" benefits for end users. I think Barry Brown  has a valid use case request for what was originally requested.

The concept of "next shot" leaves a lot of potential for problems. Playlist clearly defines next shot and also clearly defines what happens when the list ends. Previous Live Shot and Current Preview are specific whereas "next" when there are Master Layers and shot order on a layer might be moved around during a show.

What I am suggesting should not have any new potential problems. A playlist defines what happens when the list ends - including an option to switch to preview. Countdown finish to switch to preview would be what I am looking to accomplish either as a cut or transition... Thats no different to the end of a playlist...

  • I think I would like this, too. My use case is I have a layer with commercials that should play one after another until I've stopped them. I've tried using a playlist for this, but I find I am often replaying shots at the next commercial break, or skipping shots, etc. The visual cues are much more clear if I can leave all shots visible on a layer. (I know I can go into a playlist, but I have about 4,000 other things I'm trying to do, so I'm trying to simplify.)

For now, I've decided I'm better off NOT using the playlist, but manually triggering each commercial shot, but that means I can't turn my attention elsewhere during a break, which limits my ability to deal with other things that come up.

David Brazeal With a clear use case please add it to the Feature Request Vote List forum so we can get user input. Keep in mind based on the use case(s) the developers might decide to make changes in the playlist to make it easier to do this there.
