iOS Camera - Wirecast Go will not delete.

While using the Wirecast Go app with Wirecast 9, I noticed that shutting down Wirecast 9 would prompt me to delete the iOS Camera inputs. After I hit delete, the program shuts down.
If I immediately restart Wirecast 9, I cannot enter the same IP address, although the IP address has not changed.
How do I get Wirecast 9 to reinstate this iOS Camera input source?

  • It's possible it's not being properly released to be reacquired.
As a test, try rebooting the computer.

  • The computer has been restarted many times since we first used this feature. The source input name keeps incrementing. I'm on iOS Camera 14 now.
I just had the idea of changing my IP address in the wifi router admin page whenever I need to delete my iOS Camera shot so that it will register as a new input when I reconnect.
What is the proper way to delete a shot such as this?

If it's incrementing it means you're adding another Wirecast Go shot.

I start Wirecast, add the Go camera. Quit Wirecast. Open Wirecast and I add the same Go camera as I did before. If you're opening a new blank document and add the camera again.

It happens if I delete the shot, then quit Wirecast. Open Wirecast and try to add the same Go camera IP address. It doesn't accept. It says that it already exists. BTW, the count has incremented.

  • CraigS Hi Craig,

Thank you. I'm using Wirecast 10 already. I tried all the things suggested in the FAQs and Discussions on the Telestream site. It was working perfectly a few months ago and now it just won't work. Same issues as described in the thread online. (I'm also named Craig.:-) )

I'd really need to know what you've tried and properly followed the steps in those recommendations otherwise it's hard to know exactly what you've done, possible steps that were missed or misinterpreted or, other variants not mentioned in those steps. Each configuration can be somewhat unique so I really need and end to end description of everything involved in order to make technical recommendations.

  • CraigS Hi Craig. I got it to work after a lot of time trying the stuff listed below.

1- Make sure firewall is off as that can block communication on local network.

2- On Wirecast reset preferences. Wirecast > Help > Send Support Information then click lower left 'Reset Preferences' and test in a new document.

3- Deleting and re-installing Wirecast 10 on my Mac.

5- Searched my Mac and removed all Wirecast related files. These files are 'hidden' and so one must do some work to find them. https://ianlunn.co.uk/articles/quickly-showhide-hidden-files-mac-os-x-mavericks/

6- Deleted Wirecast Go on my iPad and reinstalled Wirecast Go from the app store.

NOTE: (Searching Apple App Store does NOT find Wirecast Go when I try it. I searched the App Store for 'Wirecast', Wirecast Go' and 'Telestream' but it doesn't find Wirecast Go. When I search using Safari, I find Wirecast Go page with a link to the App Store that works to download it.)

7- I set the 'Direct Cam To Wirecast' to 'Ask Permission' (I doubt that was the real problem, but that's what I did so I note it.)

That's what all I've done. And it works again. It began working again after my #6 in my list above. I wish I could say only one of those things fixed it, but I can't be certain that ALL of that wasn't necessary. I'll try later on, with the firewall turned on again, and see if that causes a problem. Right now, I'm just happy it's working.

Thanks very much for your timely replies. I'm a big fan of Telestream. Much appreciated. -A.C.

Wirecast Go is not officially compatible on iPad although it can work.
Also the iPhone/iPad apps are no longer found on the desktop Stores.

It shows up in the store on iPhone/iPad just be searching for Wirecast.

And right below the Quickbooks ad (your ads may vary) 😉

Deleting and reinstalling seems to fix a file setting that develops an issue.

  • Hi, I am having the same problems. This has occurred earlier and yesterday again. I have a Windows 10 Lenovo. Wirecast 10 with the newest update. If I have set up everything and then I come back to the computer and try to connect it tells me there is a Wirecast go session already, but the earlier dos not reconnect. In such a situation I cannot reinstall Wirecast and do all kind of Hokus pokus. Any ideas?

  • Anne-Maarit  You are going to have to suck it up and do the reinstall, I think. I tried everything and reinstalling is all that fixed this.

  • A.C. Farley I did that already. After that I got the two Iphones to work but still two not working... So that cannot be the issue. Thanks for trying.

Try uninstalling and re-instlling on the two devices that aren't working. That's what I'd do next.

Can you explain this further. It's not clear to me what "set up everything" entails. Does this mean you started the Rendezvous call and then left everything running for some time? You mention "try to connect" so it's not clear what was set up before. When you say Wirecast Go session do you mean Rendezvous session?

If all four phones are on the same WiFi network perhaps there are bandwidth issues.

I'd like to help but I really need step by step specifics otherwise I can only make general guesses. You should describe as if you were walking me through the steps of using Wirecast Go on the iPhone and Wirecast Rendezvous..

For example: Rendezvous link sent to four phones (by what means).
Each iPhone is connected (wifi or LTE).
Each iPhone tries to join using Wirecast Go.
Wirecast Rendezvous sees (how many) iPhones asking to join.

  • CraigS so two problems

Case 1: The situation that I cannot use my Iphone X as a remote camera on WIFI

    1. Open Wirecast

    2. open the file with every source on its place including my Iphone X as a remote wifi-camera from the previous session

    3. I test the sending bandwidth, which is more than 15000 kbt/s

    4. I open Wirecast Go and allow everything and check the IP address and click connect, nothing happens

    5. the Wirecast does not connect to my phone,

    6. Sometimes the Wirecast does not show any IP address from earlier events, then I try to add it, It says there is a previous Iphone connection already there, even though I have deleted all of them from sources. And it does not connect to the earlier nor the one I am trying to set up. What to do?

Case 2: The situation that the guests cannot be seen and heard from Wirecast go on Wirecast Pro through rendervouz.

    1. Open Wirecast

    2. open the file with every source on its place

    3. I test the sending bandwidth, which is more than 15000 kbt/s

    4. start new redervouz and send the link with email

    5. the guests test their bandwidth, which is more than 4000 kbt/s

    6. People with I phones are off the wifi far away from me, the host with LTE, they click the link I've sent, the Wirecast Go opens up, their video is up and running straightaway, but the phone tells them that it's unable to receive video. And they can hear me, but not see me and the their video does not show on Wirecast Pro= black screen, but it shows on Wirecast Go, so other guests are able to see and hear each other.

    What's the catch?

OK, this is not a Rendezvous issue. This is an entirely separate type of use which shouldn't be conflated with Rendezvous. It requires separate troubleshooting. Firs

    • First, reboot the computer.
    • On iPhone open Wirecast Go.
    • Click on the Gear icon.
    • Under Direct Cam to Wirecast select Always Allow
    • Look at IP address and make sure it displays a numeric only IP address (aka IPv4). Usually starts with 10. or 192. for example.
    • Close that page in Wirecast Go.
    • Start Wirecast and open a New Blank Document
    • Click on the + icon to create a New Shot and under Network there should be Myname's iPhone.
    • Select that and wait a few seconds and you should see video appear.
    • In the shot pane last pane button IOS Cam - Wirecast Go Properties it should show your camera name.
    • Note that if you look at Wirecast Go the Red icon on the right should have changed from a circle to a square to indicate it's transmitting. You do not actually have to hit that button at any point.
    • On the upper left of Wirecast Go you should see an advancing timer.
    • Please post what you see for each of the above steps as it may indicate the point of failure.

  • CraigS I have done all the steps as you described and even many times except the fact that I cannot open a new document. I have a live comming up where I need to prepare everything in beforehand as the event starts at 8.30 in the morning and we drive there from 6.00 a.m. forward. So I don't have the luxury of having the time to set up again from scratch in the morning, but have to open a ready "file" with everything on place, so if the system doesn't work so that it has been earlier made ready and then closed the file and again restarted, I think you have an issue with the system.

  • Anne-Maarit Sepling I'd like to help but you need to follow my instructions. It's working for me and it works for most of our users. There can be issues though and the only way we can pinpoint them is to walk through them with the user having the issue.

By setting up a new document and walking through the steps and by listing exactly what you see in each step it can narrow down the potential cause.
