WIRECAST 8 “Build in / Build out”

Has the ability to animate media/photos been removed in in wirecast 8 pro?  Im not seeing it anywhere.  And now all my old transitions just fade.  I really hope this isn’t the case.

  • If you use the Smooth Transition you should be able to animate media from one shot to the next.

  • While that is a good work around if only dealing with 1 or 2 photos.... I use 10 to 20 a show.  So I don't want 20 layers to scroll though.

So does this mean that Build In/ Build Out Wont Be Back?

  • Moxu If you'd like to see it return I can have  LP document the request for you.

  • Moxu , Please. We had just learned about this feature and worked it into all of our live streams @ Super Deluxe. Going to hold off on using 8 until it returns.

  • WE MISS IT SO MUCH! If you bring it back in the next update I will order pizza for the Telestream office.

  • CraigS Request documented in engineering database. It's my understanding Build In/Out was temporarily removed while developers consider improved transition options (fly in/out, etc..).

  • It's my understanding that the developers want to eat pizza when the next update comes out. Improved options sound great!

  • Yeah I was perplexed when I saw that this was no longer a feature in the new update. Is there a reason this was removed? All of my stream projects are set up to utilize this feature with build in/out's of pngs, lower thirds and overlays. I'm preparing to downgrade temporarily until this feature returns but I do love how smooth the UI is in the update. I'm with Cyrus Ghahremani

  • Cory Owens we'll investigate adding it back. The developers really need to understand why. Specific workflow examples would be good.

  • 1) the "smooth transition" workaround you posted earlier doesn't ease in and out / doesn't animate as well as the Build In/Out feature.

    2) your workaround requires that we double the amount of shots we have.

    3) the original tool allows design elements, like switching between one lower third and another, to be real nice and snappy

here's an example, look in the upper right how i switch between the show's title, the super deluxe logo, and things like "8 of 12". polling slides in, comments in the lower third, etc.

so much harder to do all of this with the workaround you posted. we actually used to work that way and were so relieved and excited when we finally started understanding how build in/out works. we only discovered the feature like a month ago ... we have 3 licenses for wirecast and we are not upgrading as long as the program is neutered.

  • Cyrus Ghahremani Thank for explaining the importance of the Build In/Out feature in your workflow. The developers are listening. Your example helps them understand the importance.

  • CraigS LP When can we expect the functionality to be restored? We are in an unfortunate place of having to choose between using 8 to monetize our work with ad breaks, or using 7 to make streams with manageable and professional graphics.

  • Cyrus Ghahremani I can't speak to the timeline but the developers are analyzing.

  • Acceleration, deceleration and having the option to choose “from left”, “to left” were very practical for all my stream setups

these we’re all live streams I recorded from facebook and uploaded to YouTube. I used this feature in every stream
