WIRECAST 8 “Build in / Build out”

Has the ability to animate media/photos been removed in in wirecast 8 pro?  Im not seeing it anywhere.  And now all my old transitions just fade.  I really hope this isn’t the case.

  • Lol 8 months later we just have to fill out a form? Right on

    1) Telestream apparently will defer future graphic advancements to NewBlue and encourages using that company’s software in every conversation i’ve had

    2) Telestream apparently doesn’t want a pizza party

You literally just have to UN-DELETE CODE! Come on.

It's not that simple at all. It's more like trying to do a Rubik's Cube since moves have been made "old" things need to be done, often in completely new ways.

  • Hi. I just upgraded from 8 to 9. Previously used 7. Is there no build-in/out feature in 9 either?

Amazing if it's really gone for good -- I used this in every shot in every project. It's one of the few remaining USPs over Xsplit.

  • Macauley using a start and ending shot and Smooth transition can actually give you more control as you can see in my first post.

Is there a reason why you prefer Build In/Out over that?

You can make the feature requests but the developers really need to understand why you prefer it to Smooth transition? They'd probably want to make sure you understand how Smooth transition works to make sure you're not overlooking it.

  • I don't see how the smooth transition is even remotely comparable.

Here's my Live output, which is a montage comprised of 6 elements on 5 layers (1 video source, 1 IP cam, two remote desktop presenters [one with a graphic], and a background graphic). I want to be able to animate the build / in out of each element in the shot.

In all versions of Wirecast before 8 (and I've owned the Pro version of every one since 3), I could do this easily. Now, I can't.

It was a USP for Wirecast.

  • I agree with macauley. We have 2 cameras, Remote Desktop presenter from another PC, and lower thirds. One shot has both cameras and the remote presenter shot. To use the transition the way you are talking about I would have to add both cameras and presenter to each shot. It seems excessive.

  • Bryan Hembree Exactly. And in my setup it would require literally dozens of shots to achieve the same level of flexibility given all the permutations. Defeats the whole purpose of having layers IMO.

  • 1) The smooth transition doesn’t ease in/out the way Build In/Out animated elements. It looks really amateur by comparison.

    2) Much less control, actually, since before we were able to have elements in and out from different directions by just checking a box

    3) Before, we could rapidly alternate between shots without any risk of an overlap or any transition shot required. They’d just swap beautifully.

    4) Your solution requires doubling the amount of shots in the project

    5) Less CPU than your solution or using Titler.

I can’t believe 9 months later you’re just repeating that solution in this thread!

  • Cyrus Ghahremani Do make the feature request. Keep in mind you have to present the use cases to the developers so they understand why you prefer Build In/ Build Out.

  • Cyrus Ghahremani : Thanks for following up with us and for pushing for this feature.  We've completed the reimplementation and it'll come back in the next major upgrade of Wirecast.

  • Yea!!! Only took a year to get back a basic function that never should have been removed.... 🙄

Any chance the ability to move layers with the mouse will come back?  Or do we have to log 20 reports and wait a year for that to get fixed too?

Please make a feature request for that. The number of requests can impact development priority. There's a lot the development weighs when creating the timeline. Sometimes new implementations of code for new features also mean major changes for previously features as well. Sorry about the inconvenience.

I believe at the time Build In / Build Out was removed in Wirecast 7 the ability to Rotate on X and Y axis with the Mouse was as well so I believe Moxu  is referring to that. If not he can explain of course.

    From Wirecast 6.

  • CraigS  nope... im referring to this post from months ago:  https://telestreamforum.forumbee.com/t/63japk

I just don’t think, when paying over $1000 for software that it’s our responsibility to fill out forms and help you fix a problem.

You recreated and confirmed you are aware of the issue.  Give us a drastically reduced price of you want us to beta test for you.

Not, trying to be rude.  Just saying,  expecting the customers to trouble shoot problems for you for months is ridiculous.

  • Moxu I suspect you mean this specifically which involves selecting assets.

Otherwise you can move assets in Preview.

CraigS  - As stated previously, I agree with Moxu  and many others who have been less than impressed with filling in "the form". How do we know that the ideas are being grouped together? Which ones are accepted? Which ones are rejected? Which ones are being scheduled or worked on? Right now, your form does not follow industry best practice by providing closed loop feedback and transparancy.

Which is why I created the wirecast community feature request and bug report portal.

Moxu  - feel free to add your item there... And also, encourage others to vote on it.

Ask for a status update. We don't report on internal decisions as a matter of course because development priorities change but you can always ask for a status update using your case number.

If you want the developers to qualify and quantify requests though you currently must use the form though.
