Problems getting guest onboard

Hi,

I have Windows 10, Wirecast 10 Pro, newest version updated and at the moment one  guest can join the Rendervous, but then the others can be seen and heard by the first guest but not by me, the host. I see a black screen and no voice except for the first one. The others get the info that not able to receive video.

What should I do?

  • Atanasio Noriega Dos My guess it's not actually the same issue. There may be an issue with Chrome version 70 breaking Rendezvous compatibility. This version was not available when the last post was made on this thread.

  • CraigS I was just testing this in my studio. I was unable to connect to Rendezvous on a laptop running Chrome version 70. On a desktop that was still running Chrome 69, it worked fine.

Curious, I updated that computer to Chrome 70 and it too was no longer able to connect. I got the famous "Waiting to join the conversation" screen.

On the host computer, I can see these machines connect in the Rendezvous Dashboard, but there is no audio or video going in either direction.

I shut everything down, and tried a new Rendezvous session using Firefox instead and was able to connect normally.

    Hope this helps.

     Hi Robert.

Can you try going to https://test.webrtc.org/ and report the results? This is bypassing Rendezvous, and just testing the capabilities of the Chrome browser. If that test fails, there will be nothing the Wirecast team could do until this is resolved.

OK, I just ran the tests on two computers both running Chrome Version 70.0.3538.77 (Official Build) (64-bit).

The results varied between the computers but both showed issues with connectivity and network.

    Windows 10 64-Bit HP Laptop:

    Network: Ipv6 enabled - failed
    Connectivity: Reflexive connectivity - failed

Wirecast Host computer, Windows 10 64-Bit running the same version of Chrome:

Camera: resolution 1280x720 - failed (Logitech Brio with latest drivers USB 3.0)
    Network: Ipv6 enabled - failed
    Connectivity: reflexive connetivity - failed
    Throughput: video bandwidth - failed

Tests not mentioned here all passed.

Hope this is helpful. And let me know if there is anything else I can test on my side. I do love Rendezvous as a solution and would do whatever I can on my side to help make it stable.

Don't worry about IPv6 and reflexive connectivity... Its the other stuff I was interested in.

Thats interesting. Your tests were all passed. I tried it here on a Chrome 70, and I had fails for all audio / video. But if that works for you, I don't know why it would fail for Rendezvous.

  • Greg Kuhnert  Just for fun, I tried Rendezvous again with those same two machines and it still got stuck on "Waiting to join the conversation" on Chrome.

Then with Firefox, it connected immediately. Must be something with Chrome.

I've tested and confirmed something specific to Chrome 70 broke compatibility with Rendezvous. We're investigating to see if it's something we can fix on our end or something Google should handle.

    Firefox is unaffected as noted.

Do report so we can have direct contact if needed.

  • I have a major problem that I really need help with.  I can't screen share on my Rendezvous.  I have Version 12.1.0 and every time I try to screen share from my guest computer, There is a red bar that appears that saids "allow rendezvous to access camera and microphone".  I have added the extension on Google Chrome, I have updated all my setting to make sure the camera and microphone is accessible and I have lower my resolution.  Why will my screens only pop up for a second and then revert back to my facetime screen and microphone.  Is there anyone having this problem, and if you are not having the problem, would you be willing to do a quick demo with me so I can see what I'm doing wrong. Thank You!

Updates include fixes and improvements. Please keep Automatically Check for Updates enabled in Wirecast Preferences or otherwise please check frequently.
The current version of Wirecast is now 12.2.1 so please do update again. Please make sure your guests have the current version of FireFox and test in that as well.

  • CraigS Well thank you.. That seemed to work well and easy.  I downloaded the new version of wirecast and I downloaded the new version of Firefox, and It pulled right up... that was cool.  Thank's for the help
