Timeline: New objects are added to topmost track

When I add a new object (e.g. text) it is added to the topmost track. In the left part of the screenshot I added "asdf" and it's on the topmost track. But I want such new objects right above the actual topmost track (to be concrete: I want asdf right to the top of the track bDenIchBerueh… - sie right part of the screenshot).

I always have to move new objects down manually, which is extremely annoying if you have a vertical "gap" of many tracks (like moving it down from track #20 to track #3, because you have to scroll up, take the object and move it down).

Is there any setting or any advice how this could be automatically accomplished?

  • Track targeting has been made as a feature request. Certainly, vote for it.

It's not clear how you are adding the media to the timeline.
It will go to the topmost empty track based on scrubber position which may be the current track or by creating a new topmost track if there's no empty space on the top track where the scrubber is.

  • Thanks, Craig - I voted for that feature!
