Screenflow 8 & Catalina Major Problems - Crashes and Extremely Slow
I just updated from Mac OS Mojave to the Mac 10.15 Catalina official operating system release that came out today. Everything was working with Screenflow 8.2.4 on my iMac Pro fine prior to the Catalina Operating System upgrade from Mojave.
Since upgrading my iMac Pro to Catalina today, Screenflow appears to start but runs extremely slow on my fast iMac Pro. I can open previous videos to edit, but the problem is that whenever I try to make a new Recording, Screenflow crashes and terminates with this error message that pops up on the screen:
Recording Error
Due to an internal error, the recording has unexpectedly terminated. Please try making your recording again, and if problems persist, contact us for technical support.
This happens every time I try to make a new Recording using the built in iMac Pro webcam and the built in iMac Pro Microphone.
I thought that telestream would thoroughly test Catalina compatibility before its release to make sure Screenflow 8 worked with it.
Now I have a non-functioning video editing Mac! Please fix these crash and slow running Screenflow on Catalina issues on iMac Pros.
Thanks.

CraigS Hi Craig - just checked i ran a QT movie and then an mp4. QT had no audio and it previewed. The MP4 had audio, and it ran the audio but hung on the visual. So it's both it seems not just the stock library but mine also. If I put the stock and my own straight into the stream and don't preview they play in the editor

There's been no change in file compatibility so perhaps there's an issue with the codecs as Apple may have changed some things.

Dr Christiaan Willems The Permissions popup is behind the Configure Recording popup so it's easily missed. Unfortunately this is the way Catalina works so we are working on a way to force the Permissions popup to be in front of the Configure Recording popup. We have the fix. It'll be released shortly.

ScreenFlow 8.2.5 has been released and it will force the Screen Recording permissions popup.

CraigS The 8.2.5 download fixed the beach ball issue while viewing stock videos however your up to date version isn't available from the mac store and I have already deleted the app to the trash and re-downloaded the app from the app store to keep my subscriptions but I get beach ball...... Question is how do I use the unofficial app store version with my subscription?? Super bummed so much time wasted

your up to date version isn't available from the mac storeThe Mac Store doesn't allow updates to older versions after a new version is released. That's their policy, not ours.
The only way to get a later version is either move to our web store version (we'll help with that noted here) or buy 9. -
Jeff Posth Please do fill out the ScreenFlow Support Form and they'll discuss options for you in detail. Please note the complete version number 8.x.x as that's important.
