Screenflow 8 activation error

I have upgraded to Screenflow 8 but when I try to activate with the serial number sent to me, I get an error:

"Unable to activate serial number

"The operation could not be completed after an error occurred with the licensing server. The error code returned was -3005. Please try again"

How can I fix this, please

    Marconi Pereira  Mine still seems to be activated, but I'm not willing to deactivate and then try to activate it again in case that breaks mine. If the ScreenFlow app relies on checking the server periodically and disables the software if it can't check it, that is a flaw that will at some point cause problems (due to the user being offline, having internet issues, or the licensing server being down). It doesn't sound like Telestream can be convinced they need to change the process. We can hope that either the server doesn't go down again or if it does happen again, it affects a large and important company (who owns many licenses) and makes them change. If it affects me again, I likely won't be buying any more upgrades as there is a competing product I will switch to. I briefly looked at it earlier this year and IMO some features are better in each product  (i.e., some things are easier to do in one and some in the other) so there's not a clear winner. Inertia has kept me with ScreenFlow since version 2 but another outage would likely change my mind.

    Dave Reed I can deactivate and activate. As previously stated our backend people have implemented a solution we are quite confident with.

    Maybe a glitch in your end. It seems you didn't get rid of this at all.

  • Dave Reed I will take a look in the options shared in this post. I really do love working with ScreenFlow, but I'm definetely not a fan of this way of licensing. Imagine I'm working offline for days and days and discover that software won't export because of a licensing issue? I was totally upset this weekend and it pissed me off when others were facing the same issue. I just tried everything to help myself as well as other peeps that were trying to simply do their stuff. 

    Welcome Telestream. I have Microsoft Word and Google Docs, Excel and Google Sheets, PowerPoint and Google Slides. Now I will have ScreenFlow and another option -- which I saw is just 30$. So, no way to upgrade to Screenflow whatever version if it does need Internet connection to check license. This is simply bizarre. Terribly sorry to say this, but Telestream lost a loyal costumer.

    There's no space for problems like this in this huge arena. Telestream should consider fighting software pirates other way. As paying customers, we are paying (and suffering) for doing the right thing. They inverted the pyramid and are punishing the ones who do things right. This is the right path to lose reputation.

    Marconi Pereira Sorry you're experiencing these issues but rebooting the computer wouldn't impact our server at all.

  • I often get hit with the "Please register" screen and it reverts to demo mode. When that happens, I've often gone to the Preferences and clicked on Licenses. Sometimes the serial number is filled in, other times I've had to fill it in...but then I click okay and it's good to go again. It's very frustrating on a paid product.

    Erica Gamet Please make sure you've registered in an Admin account. Make sure you're using the latest version in your ScreenFlow series, either 8.2.2 or 7.3.2. Much of this thread is about an issue we were having with our server but has been resolved so it's likely your issue is unrelated.

    I am getting this error as well. It's been happening for weeks. I just submitted a support ticket but they don't respond on weekends.
