Why do I get: Error Invalid configuration ('"persistent" is not present "rules" is not present')

Hello!

I have several workflows using monitor folders. After IT-support "re-synced" my user account the workflows ceased to work.

Now I'm on a fresh Re-installed operating system, user account is deleted and re-set-up and also episode is re-installed and Episode presets from old installation are copied into place so everything should be just fine.

When I try to drag some of my workflows to the workspace Episode still returns error:

"Invalid configuration ('"persistent" is not present
"rules" is not present')"

Is there a way to fix this?

By opening a preset file in text edit is, there any value I can manually change or add to make it work again?

System info:

Episode version is: 6.4.3.14 (5968). (Licensed with pro audio option)

Operating system: OsX Sierra 10.12.6

Thanks in advance!

  • OSX Sierra requires Episode 7.2 for minimum compatibility. OSX Lion required Episode 6.4.4 so 6.4.3 isn't going to be compatible with recent Mac OSX versions.

Interesting. I have been running episode 6.4.3 with all operating systems since lion.

We used to have eigth workflows with watch folders running in parallel without hiccups. Now I'm on 10.12.6 and Episode 6.4.3 is still going strong.

I think we used to have a dialogue with your developers several years ago so maybe we have a special version?

I did some trial and error and found a way to restore my workflows:

(worked for me but might not work for you. REMEMBER TO MAKE BACKUP OF ALL PRESETS BEFORE CONTINUING)

    1. Build a new workflow similar to one of the presets with the above mentioned error and save it.

    2. go to: users/user x/library/application support/Episode/user workflows and find  the workflow file you just made (.episubmission) for text "persistent", and "rules"

    3. compare new working workflow file text to old preset file text (with error)

    4. copy the specific paragraph that contains text "persistent", "rules" from the new workflow file and paste/replace the similar paragraph in old workflow file text (with error) and save it.

    5. try to open the fixed workflow

Oops text error.. point 2 should be:

    2. go to: users/user x/library/application support/Episode/user workflows, find  the workflow file you just made (.episubmission), open it with a text editor, search for text "persistent" and "rules"
