Using Web Stream to bring in Hudl feed to Wirecast Pro
We just installed a Hudl camera in our gym. The video quality looks fine in the Hudl interface, but when I import a Hudl feed via Web Stream, I'm experiencing very choppy/laggy video. Attaching a sample video and hardware specs here.
Model Name: MacBook Pro
Processor Name: Quad-Core Intel Core i7
Processor Speed: 2.4 GHz
Memory: 16 GB
OS: Catalina 10.15.5
Wirecast Pro Version 14.0.4

Check the hudl cams manual to change the stream resolution to 1080p if that is supported.

It is a 1920 x 720 signal.

DCG Booster Didn't hear back from the original poster.
They were on 14.0.4. Perhaps an update fixed it.
Please update to Wirecast 15.1 and check.
If you still have the same problem please post a screenshot of what you see in Web Stream.
Also, include your camera settings.

I tried it with my HUDL Focus outside as well. Same result as the HUDL Focus inside.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. This seems like a Wirecast problem.
Also, I have a Windows PC that we use as a backup, which worked fine. Maybe this has something to do with MacBooks?

DCG Booster It looks like the HUDL is coming in at full 1920x1080 at 30fps.
What is your Canvas Size (Make sure its also 1920x1080 otherwise it would scale)?
Can you check how it looks on VLC Player on the same Mac as Wirecast?
That will let us know if it's a Mac-related issue or an issue specific to Wirecast.

VLC works perfect.
I just tried it using OBS and the stream works fine. Must be something with Wirecast?

DCG Booster Are you using Wirecast 15.1?
Please do an ISO record if you have Wirecast Pro. If not, do an output record to disk.
ISO recording allows us to see input. Output of course shows processing but still useful to us.
Keep the recordings very short. We just need samples long enough to see the problem. Make sure Canvas is 1080p and frame rate for recordings are set to 30fps. -

DCG Booster Need to know how these videos were recorded. Were they ISO recordings and where they in Source mode (rather than Shot mode)?
Again we need the canvas size. Sorry but we need COMPLETE information so they can be reproduced. If we have to guess we can't test. -

CraigS OK. Looks like I need to recreate again. I had just used the Replay+ISO for creating replays.
Just for clarity, I need to:
Click Replay+ISO
Add ISO
Recording Type: Capture Source
Canvas Size: HUDL defaults to 1920x1080 @30fps (so that should work)
Then send you a portion of whatever records that has issues. Is this correct? -
DCG Booster Try increasing the Buffer setting under Source Properties. May need to go up to 1 sec.

DCG Booster How do you have the camera connected? Ethernet or WiFi
Does changing Timestamps from Source to Wirecast have an impact?-
CraigS The HUDL camera is connected via ethernet cable. I have not tried changing timestamps. I can certainly do that and let you know. Am assuming you can change the timestamp option via Wirecast. (I can look up how to do that)

DCG Booster Generally if it's there and not grayed out it's a user option. There are so many different types of sources we like giving users control for fixing issues like this.

DCG Booster Other users with this issue report that increasing the buffer fixes it. Please try 2 seconds. Also confirm whether you're URI is RTMP or RTSP as that impacts packet loss. We're using similar technology to VLC so if it works there it should work in Wirecast. Their buffer is 2 seconds though.
