Export Data Rate Question
I can see that changing the Data Rate in the Export settings changes the file size but will this change the quality if the recording is only a screen recording and not video footage.
Are there any suggested Data Rate values for say...
3840 x 2160 Screen recording and 1920 x 1080 screen recording.
Data rate can impact quality as well as file size. One has to make a judgment on whether the quality change is noticeable relative to the screen it will be played back on. The content is also a factor as faster motion will usually require a higher data rate to maintain quality. As a result, there's no easy formula. Sometimes you have to do test encodes.

does it harm quality a lot if you then put the rendered video through something like HandBrake to try and get the file size down a bit.
Yes it can. If you're going that route I'd export Apple ProRes and use that as the master in Handbrake. It's never good to compress a compressed file.
