13.2.b2 - Rendezvous Audio Fade not working [90]

When fading audio sources using the audio mixer, remote rendezvous guests stop hearing the source, after only a minute amount of fade. The screen capture video attached demonstrates this bug. It should be noted that my audio source is Dante VIA. However, I have seen this on other sources at times.

NOTE: This is not new or specific to the beta. However, it is rendezvous related and I am aware you have that part of the code open for other matters. Posting here in the hope you can find and fix this long standing problem.

  • Meanwhile, how did your guest connect? Normal webcam or a normal camera. The picture quality seem great...

  • Can you test with something other than Dante Via?
I did a test as a guest and the host was able to fade audio from a Screen Capture with System Sound and I heard the level change with the fade as expected.

As I said previously, the other sources behaving like this is random, but repeatable with Via. I dont know what the trigger is to cause it to fail with other sources... but since it is repeatable with Via, would it make sense to try to replicate the fault with a known repeatable non-working configuration?

Greg Kuhnert We'd test with supported workflows only. The intermittent repeatability is something to be explored with a supported workflow.

    Craig.

What makes this an "unsupported workflow"? If I recall correctly, you have a FAQ on audio capture that references alternatives to the system audio capture, and I think Dante was one of the solutions - but I can't find that post now. And if I read back in this forum, you have personally recommended Dante Via a number of times.

I reported back a long time ago about the audio from the rendezvous dashboard being captured by system audio capture and reported it as a bug. I dont believe I have ever seen that fixed, which is my only reason for using Dante Via. I would much prefer to have a simpler setup, but this bug has prevented using the built in tools.

In addition to this, I understand the T2 chip now also makes it impossible to use the built in tools on newer machines.

Looking at their website Dante Via doesn't officially support either Mojave or Catalina and Wirecast currently requires either Mojave or Catalina.  Their last update was in 2018 for High Sierra

    • CraigS Their FAQ may be out of date. However, their support team have previously confirmed in writing that Via works with Mojave - They even did a Mojave release specifically. And I'm running on Mojave. All supported platforms. I did a test and fading audio from Dante Via works perfectly on other software. Only Wirecast exhibits the problem. Do you have a WIRE- reference number for this? Have the developers confirmed if they will do any investigation?

Greg Kuhnert We've tested Wirecast sans Dante and there is no issue fading audio. Dante should list official macOS supported.  They don't indicate a Mojave release. Current macOS is Catalina and Big Sur is now in beta so they seem to be falling further behind.
