Screenflow 7.1 not working on High Sierra

I am having serious problems with Screenflow 7.1 since upgrading to High Sierra. The video does not playback. Please see attached screencapture.

• MacBook Pro (Retina, 15-inch, Late 2013)
• High Sierra 10.13
• Version 7.1 (29890)
• external devices recording - None
• Scratch disk location in preferences - Startup Volume
• Free hard drive space - 45GB on 500GB Flash Drive
• Number of Monitors - 1
• What you are recording - screencast
• Sequence running time - ~ 5 minutes

What is going wrong? It was perfectly fine before the High Sierra upgrade?

  • Forgot to add, my boot drive is a FusionDrive, and the clips below have images on them

  • I tried to uninstall and reinstall Screenflow 7.1 and clear out the cache.  Now it crashes most of the time when I try to run the files. If it does work, I get a horrible green hue over the video captured by Screenflow (see below screen capture). No hue on the slide media that I imported to support the voiceover.

This is starting to impact our business at this point.

    Very troubling.

Hi Steve, I understand that this issue is very troubling and I'm looking into it as we speak. If you could provide a crash log that would be helpful, thanks!

  • Stephen Terlizzi in Applications/Utilities/Console look at User Reports and you should see something that says Screenflow followed by date ending in .crash

  • Paul Harmelink The iMac 13.1 has a NVIDIA GeForce GPU can you confirm that. I think that may be part of the issue.

Looks like you have the Late 2013 15" MBPr with NVIDIA GeForce GPU. These all look like GeForce driver related

  • What does that mean? Can I correct this on my side or do I need to wait for a fix from Telestream?

We've narrowed the issue down to NVIDIA mobile GPUs and we're working on a solution to this issue. There is a workaround available, adding any Video Filter will cause the video to display correctly within ScreenFlow. I suggest adding the filter 'Vibrance' with a value of 0 and you should be able to edit without all of the visual artifacts. Please let me know if this does not resolve your issue.

  • No worries...Screenflow is a complex software product that offers a lot of value. I am sure you will get it fixed as soon as possible.

  • Indeed I have had dreadful issues and have just tried adding the filter on the clips that were blank or black and the image has come back. Please can you give us an estimate on when the proper fix will be available?  That would be very much appreciated.  Thank you so much.

  • I'm having the SAME problems on Mac High Sierra with Screenflow 7.1. Using the "Vibrance" filter with a setting of "0" did the trick and I'm able to export and view videos again (they were blank or distorted before).

Looking forward to a fix and wishing the dev team well!

  • Rory Maloney  - Is there an estimated ETA on the fix yet? I have the workaround applied for now, and it seems to be working, but it would be great not to have to do that. Thanks!

  • Rory Maloney  Just noticed this problem today. After de- and reinstall ScreenFlow, try other videos than from my iPhone 7 iOS 11 I then thought of searching for a forum. 🙄 Anyway.. and thanks.

Workaround with "Vibrance" filter helps for the moment.

  • Just bought it And 7.1 and I'm on High Sierra Beta due to iPhone ios 11 dev.

    it definitely has issues.

    1. If i record screen (2nd) in full screen, did 5 sec test, crashed, just apple spinner.

    2. If I record a section of the screen, this work, well my 15 sec test worked but!!
when it opened the editor, it was just black screen in the area size i defined.

    Just trying to help...

here is my system information, let me know if what i can do.

  • Ben Johansen MacPro 5.1 should have ATI 5770 or ATI 5870. ScreenFlow requires the use of Apple officially supported GPUs with the specific model only.
